Wasn't a huge fan of the ending - was it necessary for Frobisher's story to end with suicide (well, we assume - this being prime time BBC One it was off-camera). No more Ianto leaves just Jack and Gwen of the original cast (we can presume that if the series comes back, so will Jack). The ending was a bit too downbeat for my taste, after five days surely we deserved a happy ending?

I think that was just to add the 'Torchwood'.

Since when did Torchwood provide happy endings? I think it's more bold for a show to be realistic [within it's Sci Fi realm of course] and admit that people who work in these kinds of fields aren't bulletproof and can falter. It made them human meaning we can relate to it more than beforehand.
And like I said, it is sci fi, so with Ianto anything's possible. Plus you can be sure a couple of CoE's characters will probably become regulars when the show returns... along with Martha probably... sigh...

Maybe a desperate housewives style flash forward or flash back in the series would be easier for them to do. Giving us an already established team. Personally I'd love to see a 90's torchwood. The prejudices, clothes, music would make it good to see I think, especially seeing as we have seen the 70's and 80's before in Life on Mars / Ashes to Ashes.
