There are issues of conflict of interest across all facets of the broadcasting, sport, politics and general media industries. I'm hopeful that the professionalism of the journalists involved outweighs this. Are we, for example, saying that Robert Peston cannot comment on Political Issues involving Boris Johnson because of his linkage in the alleged Charlotte Edwardes matter?

Of course - through the accusations here is that they don't or even are unable to.

Don't think much of this scoreline from Wednesday's EFL on Quest...

*

For some reason some of the matches that have been shown live overseas or on Sky are only available for this programme with a burnt-in scoreline, with the clock crudely airbrushed out. Along with Colin Murray continually failing to namecheck the commentators, and the in-game graphics not matching the studio graphics, it always feels like we're constantly opting into another, better programme.

Wednesday was the first time this scoreline had a SkyBet logo on it throughout the entire duration of the edit which I'm pretty sure is not permitted as that's undue prominence for a sponsor, and it's especially poor being a gambling company. One for Ofcom, I think.

Even more strange as that match wasn't on Sky (except the red button) or available overseas.

That is the scorebar used on iFollow. The International TV scorebar omits the Sky Bet branding.

IMG do have access to all of the clean feeds. However, commentary isn’t always done in-house (e.g. the International TV matches produced by Pitch International).

For whatever reason, it seems there isn’t always time for them to resyncronise the external commentary with the clean pictures, so they use the dirty feed instead.

I can’t explain this partivular instance however, as all the iFollow production is done by IMG to the best of my knowledge. I imagine they must have had a problem ingesting the clean feed, and so had to resort to the dirty.

The highlights show they put out the following morning for International viewers tends to be better polished than the Quest show, though it still has these odd scorebar edits occationally.

The BBC has confirmed it will air Oregon 2021 and Budapest 2023 along with other IAAF events through to 2023.

Back to the EFL coverage, the SkyBet logo is permitted as they are the sponsors of the League, so escape the terms of the now proven ridiculously 'tame' restrictions introduced this season.

Bet Sebastian Coe will be thrilled about that...!

I thought it might be the iFollow scoreline. It tends to only happen occasionally, on midweek editions especially. Of course, Quest is the first channel to do midweek highlights from the Football League, before that I think it was a bit too frantic to turn it around (and the channels that used to show highlights were presumably unenthusiastic about scheduling them). They do a decent job of turning the edits around and it's all very slick, but seemingly they can't get hold of a clean feed.

I don't think that's right. It's certainly permitted on graphics when they mention the name of the league, on scorelines and results and the like, much like TAG Hauer timing and EA Sports stats. But I'm pretty sure it's not permitted on screen for the entire duration of the match edit.

The other big sports news this weekend is that BBC Sport seems to have a new endcap and, for the first time in several years, that doesn't include a plug for the Get Inspired website. It did always feel a bit strange that every programme, no matter if it was the end of the World Cup or the Olympic Games, had as its final image a link to a website which tells you where you can play table tennis.

But they ARE mentioning the name of the league - it says SkyBet EFL.

But the name of the league is the EFL, because the programme itself is called EFL on Quest. Not SkyBet EFL on Quest.

Ofcom says...

A SkyBet logo on screen throughout an entire match edit is in no way "brief".
