Whichever two couples are in the dance-off need to have the same outfits, hairstyles, make-up (etc) as in the main show.
Clearly the participants aren't going to go to sleep on Saturday night in all that stuff, and also continue wearing it constantly right up until Sunday evening for a live results show. Re-doing it all from scratch on Sunday for all couples, when it'll ultimately be unnecessary for all but two of them, would be a ridiculous waste of time/effort/expense.
The only practical way for the results show to be live is if it's broadcast later on the Saturday night, separated from the main show by at least 60 minutes of other programme(s). But having one TV programme straddle/dominate a single evening's schedule quite *that* much is way too "overkill". Fatiguing even for die-hard SCD fans, and justifiably infuriating for those Licence Fee payers for whom SCD is of no interest.
For at least the earliest few weeks of an SCD series (when there's still loads of couples to get through per episode), the main show alone is already bloody long. The duration (and/or the "density" within) gradually eases off each week, as the series progresses. Adding a same-night-broadcast Results Show on top, especially in the earlier weeks, would be unbearable for all but the absolute ultra-fans. Spreading SCD's baggy total weekend minutage across the two days makes for a more balanced schedule.
In summary... It makes logistical sense to "do" the Results Show later on the same night, but makes scheduling sense to broadcast it 24 hours later.
