Tom Allen and Maya Jama.
Oti Mabouse and Rylan Clarke Neal.

What bizarre line ups, either inexperienced getting an unusually big gig, or barely known to BBC One viewers, or an alternative comedian having to play it straight. Surely telethon nights should be hosted by the cream of the crop.

It’s no wonder Rylan is in such demand.

No big star wants to host these telethons, they simply do not want to take part. So this is what we are left with.

Not sure if you noticed but the BBC’s literal highest-paid star was presenting.

As was their highest profile transfer of recent years, the go to female presenter of the moment and the rising star of radio and television.

That said do find it odd Gary is the only sports host presenting nowadays and do think it would benefit from the presence of more. Having Gabby Logan instead of Oti and Mark Chapman joining Tom and Maya after the news would have ensured faces that appeal to a sports audience throughout.

Gabby Logan under normal circumstances wouldn't have been available as she would have presented the last day of the 6 Nations either in Cardiff or Paris but I get your point. I like the way Sport Relief had some sport with the clash of the titans the last few years or the 3 boxing matches last time and think they should have retained that element of it alongside the comedy sketches, musical guests and video appeals.
