There's some clever shooting too. The camera never seems to be physically further away than the 4th wall (that you seldom see) would allow, so you get the sense of it being a real enclosed space.
It is a closed set, with 4 walls, hence the claustrophobic feeling you get on film.
The whole programme seemed to drag with the same gag too much this year whereas last year it was slapstick after slapstick which was just as bad. We only laughed once and that was when Jim peed in the cider bottle. They need to stay in the house but it's very limited with what you can do next and it's certainly not working with them "on tour" so to speak.
I agree - much, much better than last year, though a shame Anthony only featured in the early scenes.
Do we know how long ago it was filmed considering the next slide on the TV said The One Show and Big Top, which only began a few weeks ago.
I'm not sure, but didn't they have to re-film a lot of it recently because of a technical fault with one of the cameras during the original filming? I heard there was a camera fault which was only noticed once everything had been filmed and they watched it back in the gallery, so the cast was called back to re-film the necessary bits. Maybe that's why the next slide was so recent.
It was a lot better than last years effort, but far from a classic, I think it still has something but it works better when they have Anthony and when they're in the house.
Good plug for The One Show, North West Tonight and I think Wales Today aswell.
My favourite ever episode was the wallpaper stripping accompanied by "Mambo Number Five".

I wasn't sure what to make of it, to be honest. Even though it wasn't, it felt a little as if it was written by somebody else. Some of the usual mannerisms were exaggerated to the extreme!

And Joe seemed to be an entierely different character.
Although the episode was more than acceptable, I think Caroline and Craig would do themselves and everybody else a big favour if they set next year's episode in the house for the hour. Next year's is the only confirmed episode at the moment, so who knows if it'll be the last for good?

I noticed that. What happened to the deadpan, cut off mid-sentence Joe? It was almost as if he was still playing Len in Emmerdale.
