No more presenters on CBBC/Changes to CBBC over the years

I happened to see CBBC yesterday afternoon (on BBC 1) for the first time in around three and a half years and I was really surprised to see no presenter - just a clip of the next programme with a voice-over. When did CBBC ditch its presenters? I am surprised they have done this.

I noticed three years ago that the CBBC presenters' style had changed compered to the days of the broom cupboard - the presenters were in a large studio and weren't patronising like the presenters in the old days of the broom cupboard used to often be, and instead were presenting in a much more "grown-up" style.

I don't think CBBC had a puppet since Emlin the Gremlin in the late 90s. I never really saw Emlin, but I can remember Otis the Aardvark quite well and he was so annoying! I think it was very different when they gave the puppets voices (I still don't think Otis was as annoying as the computer generated Ratz, though - remember him?)

This has happened since the relaunch in September 2007. The presenters have been shifted to the Channel, and only seem to appear in pre-recorded 'switch over to the CBBC Channel' links. Although limited compared to how it was a few years ago, the cutbacks are pretty noticeable, to be honest I preferred the old format (1998-2006), not liking this office set, it looks too restricted.

(BTW, there's already a CBBC Thread here: http://www.tvforum.co.uk/forums/topic25666/page1)

The presenting was a lot more T4-esque until around 2006. The likes of Fearne Cotton and Jake Humphrey presented, but the obvious and most popular duo was Andrew Hayden Smith & Angellica Bell. But once they moved out of the studio in 2006ish and started to be presented from a green screen, they reverted to one younger presenter and a much more patronising style. Then CBBC stopped targetting the over 12's and went back to basically a modern day broom cupboard. No wonder the ratings have slumped to all time lows, kids don't like being patronised.

I remember seeing Fearne Cotton and Angelica Bell on the T4-style set but I had no idea the presenting style changed after 2006 and CBBC went back to a more Broom Cupboard-style of presenting.
