I’d suspect if they want a male replacement then Adil Ray is a high contender followed by Alex Beresford....
What’s Matthew Wright up to these days? Very Happy

I'm sorry but both Adil Ray and Alex the weather guy should stick to what they know. Either starring in terrible sitcoms or reading off an autocue for 2 minutes to viewers in Bristol.

I wouldn’t say I’m a fan of Alex, Adil is getting more outspoken on Twitter... sometimes presenters are appointed when they are not always the best...

Yep. See This Morning on Fridays.

Thoughts with Erron Gordon at this time.

Why? Erron should have been screaming down his ear telling him to wind it in. I don't feel sorry for him at all.

Surely Neil Thompson as Editor must have questions to answer as well for allowing this farce to carry on for as long as it did.

I was joking. He's quite the Piers cheerleader.

‘ITV has accepted this decision and have nothing further to add’

Think that says everything you need to know. Morgan’s position evidently became untenable; ITV’s CEO refusing to back him this morning suggested this was coming. Appears as if they’ve given him the dignity of having ‘left’ rather than having been dropped — whether he deserves that is another matter.

Will be interesting to see how they cover it on tomorrow’s show, they can’t simply ignore it because it is a fairly major story.

Goes to show that in the end, the bully never wins.

We get it, you don't like Alison Hammond.

And to think just a week ago Erron was excited over a new desk and removing the old credenza.

What an effect a new desk can have! To think Piers would only sit at it five times before quitting for good.

To be honest Piers was the only reason I watched GMB - I liked that combative style. I know he could go too far at times, but at least he was asking questions people wanted answers to, especially taking incompetent government ministers to task, hauling them over the coals and holding them to account and taking none of their BS. I have tried watching it on the days he isnt there and to be honest it is dull as dishwater. The sits try to adapt his style but they fail miserably.

Totally agree. If they don't carry on this formula it will sink like a stone. If it goes serious and heavy it will get trounced by the BBC and if it goes lightweight it will also lose ratings. The only thing going for it has been Piers, rightly or wrongly. Like you say, the rest of the week is currently as dull as dishwater. It would be unthinkable to try that approach 5 days a week again.

Not that I necessarily always agree with Piers, but he made it interesting viewing. So much so I probably haven't watched boring BBC Breakfast for a year now and I certainly haven't missed it. I used to flip between GMB and Kay Burley on Sky News, but with her suspended I haven't bothered as that's been boring as anything lately too.

Essentially they need someone who has bite, but at the same time not an egotistical nightmare to work with.

I wonder given how well Charlene has done on Loose Women if they might get another ITV News presenter to fill in? I suggested on the other thread that Paul Brand might be good to try out.

Just seen the other thread has closed. Going by Asa's closing remarks there, he should have dropped this in too
