Does anyone know when the Frank Bough sex scandal took place in 1992? if it was later 1992 that might explain why LWT Axed Six o'Clock live!

By this point I believe 6 O'Clock Live was being fronted by Nick Owen anyway, but it was axed apparently so they could start building up and getting ready for London News Network, the last 6 O'Clock Live was late August and LWT News was on at 5.10pm on Fridays for the rest of 1992 by the looks of it.

Apartly the first day of this new ident, was the same day as when lwt news started at 5.10. So when did Frank leave the show?

I never knew that LWT news started at 5.15. I'm guessing it was:
5.15 LWT News
5.40 ITN News
6.00 ????

ITV last covered the olympics in 1988. Networked on both ITV and Channel 4, and also on the BBC, the main ITV Sports network presenting team were used, but did any regional sports reporters get used, either as presenters, or commentators?

Not Olympics but I remember Yorkshire's John Helm doing off tube commentary on a World Cup football match when the line from the stadium failed. Suspect that would have been 86. I think he only did the first half.

There's a screen grab on TV Ark of Hazel Irvine introducing coverage of the 1988 Olympics for ITV/Channel 4; at the time I believe she was only known to STV viewers....

In terms of football, the excellent network of ITV Football websites [note: not connected to ITV Sport] list comprehensive details of regional commentators/reports and their involvement in the broadcast of network domestic and international matches - and a lot more besides:

EDIT: To validate Steve's comment, these websites suggest John Helm's commentary in London was used during part of the first half on ITV's live coverage of Northern Ireland v Algeria during the 1986 World Cup, following technical difficulties with Peter Brackley's commentary feed from Mexico. It seems this arrangement was set up following problems in Mexico during an earlier tie in the tournament (Brazil v Spain), where Mexican-sourced commentary (again from Peter Brackley) didn't materialise and Brian Moore instead offered analysis from London.

There were a lot of problems with the commentary circuits at Mexico 1986 during the first few days.

The host broadcaster operation was a shambles, and various EBU member engineers and the UK contractors, Pye TVT had to step in to sort it out.

Didnt they have the problem due to the aftermath of an earthquake in Mexico ISTR.

That certainly didn't help at all, I think it may have been that some of the key host broadcaster engineering staff were killed/injured by that earthquake ?

An interesting read and a reminder of times when decisions were made in the interests of viewers in each region, not one or two companies wanting to broadcast to every region.
