TVS saga once again!

Challenge / virgin should have the rights to the catalog but it seems a over sight caused this,

back in 1997 when the UK operations were sold to Flextech, there never brought the shows, use the right to keep showing them for about 4 years?

Programmers them self went to FOX, as there brought over the Family channel ( mainly so there could get there hands on MtM ) that was sold onto Disney around 2002.

From what I have been able to found the tapes including TVS catchphrase Are still around, last note of them being in a warehouse in Ashford, kent. Disneys does not care, could not care.

what there Should do, is just give back the TVS catalog to Virgin/ Challenge, at least there would have some use for them, see as Disney could not give a monkey

Flextech/Challenge might have had the rights to broadcast some of their programmes for a while (and they originally used TVS' old studios in Maidstone for their studio segments) but they have no claim over the TVS programme archive.

TVS was sold to the owners of The Family Channel who are now part of ABC/Disney.

Challenge was a rebrand of The Family Channel but that's as far as it went, Flextech (or whatever it was called at the time, possibly United Artists) just took over the UK channel

As you will have read in the link I posted on the last page, the TVS archive is spread around a number of locations including Maidstone, London and Leeds, however it is to all intents and purposes unsuable.

There is nothing in Maidstone tape wise, There was a major refurbishment of the place 5-6 years ago and all the tapes were moved out,. I believe the ashford place take some.

Strange thing, MtM paper work is not lost, and that has gone through the same process as tvs stuff, yet that lot of the catalog is useless Confused

Are you sure about that, it would contradict the information on the link above (which I do trust)

Not necessarily the same process - TVS were based in the South of England, everything was made there and stored there.

MTM was an American company therefore the archive would be in the US along with the paperwork. I very much doubt that when it was bought by TVS that the whole thing was moved to the UK - they would have still been doing most of their programme sales within the US. Only copies of whatever TVS were selling/broadcasting would have made it across along with paperwork.

Therefore I'd have thought that all the details for the MTN archive were safe and sound in the US and therefore not skipped like the single copy of TVS's paper archive

The post is nearly 3 years old, ( i dare say it was right) but i did phone maidstone office and i was told there is nothing there, ( unless there are lying of course, but there said it was moved during the refub)

I have been told by someone ( a few months ago which linked to tvs era) a number of TVS show are in the in ashford. This is how I concluded the stuff from maidstone went to.

Disney does acknowledge there own TVS catchphrase

( it could be the stuff that belong in Ashford is Maidstone but have never been moved back but still belong to maidstone???? )

True, but it was posted after the refit '5 or 6 years ago'.
I don't know who you spoke to but remember that Maidstone Studios is run purely as a facilities business. If the tapes are there then they are just sitting in a rented storage area. No-one at Maidstone would have any responsibility for them, they're Disney's not theirs.

Then there are at least 5 places then that hold TVS achieve: Could Disney at least grab everything and put into one place at least?
