The only reason was the 1990 Broadcasting Act. A stroke of Thatcher genius.

I always used to enjoy travelling in the midlands, even a small peek at Central presentation used to make my day, they had fantastic presentation, and then I had to get back to Yorkshire, and witness their average presentation in comparison!

Anyway, enough about "Killing Central"!

Someone has said in another thread that Central is going to be reborn!!!!

in the way the Central Cake logo was plastered all over an umbrella an interviewer was using during the Boscastle floods on the ITV Evening News last week.

Also, the Central Cake logo is also on the back of a Soldier Soldier DVD that was released last year.

So if the Cake logo is being used on umbrellas and DVD's, has Central really been killed????

Discuss!

it sounds like the same brolly seen during a report outside birmingham county court about 2 years ago - was it black with bits of the central cake on each of the sections of the brolly?

if the central/midlands today thread hadn't been deleted i could have provided photos - but alas!

Not wanting to pỉss on anyone's bonfire here, but has nobody considered it could be an old umbrella? Much as I'd love to see the cake back, I wouldn't get yer hopes up!

Hmm... I was trying to get a discussion going about why Central Productions bombed so badly.

While Kent House may be a fascinating bit of architecture, it's slightly off topic.

Oh, Central spun Nottingham off into 'The Television House' as it's production arm by the way.

Sorry about that, I just wondered if Granada used the LWT stuidos to it's advantage. BTW I remember back in the early 90's of the five panels up the top the central & two right handed ones had the LWT logo & a flag I think flying from the roof. There's no outline of the old letters however
