The target audience for a 'Newshour' are already watching Breakfast. If anything, the Newshour segment left GMTV disjointed between 6-7, suddenly switching from harder news to showbiz/human interest fluff.

If anything, GMB currently is a more consistent product than it was under previous incarnations of the ITV breakfast product.

And the GMTV Newshour always came from the sofa, with the same set and backdrop as GMTV Today, which I always thought was a little jarring.

Although, the news bulletins during GMTV Today came from Penny Smith sitting behind a desk with a green screen backdrop.

Viewing figures for individual news regions are higher than GMB. Time to axe it?

Have an Itv News branded bulletin at 6-7 - then daytime repeats and start Lorraine at 8 - Kyle at 9 - This Morning from 10

I wonder if ITV have finally admitted defeat re viewing figures. GMTV and all the different Daybreaks were scrapped because of low figures. GMB still doesn't get the amount of viewers ITV hoped for.

Hopefully they've just realised that chopping and changing is unlikely to do anything other than lose viewers, and it's better to be happy with what they've got and stick with GMB for the long haul. After all, it provides ITV with numerous opportunities for sponsored content and money-making competitions that a straight news programme and/or repeats wouldn't.

Firstly, no they aren't,and secondly what benefit would that have in terms of ratings, ad revenue, you name it?

What is it with people fantacizing about GMB being axed and speculating new formats. Personally the programme feels quite strong regarding credible presenters and journalists. The content, yes is lighter than breakfast, but there is a lively mix of news and entertainment. And this is the best itv breakfast show there has been regarding presentation, the set is brilliant and flexible. The desk and sofa format works, The theme tune is even well suited. I think GMB is the best offering we have had from itv ever, and yes even above GMTV.

I agree it's the best ITV Breakfast has been for a while, but they don't always get it right. Adele making a mistake at the Grammys was their top news headline this morning...

I'm sure they could have ran something with some more news value than Adele wings a Grammy and swears *surprise surprise*. There have been more important issues but I guess GMB is aimed at a mainly female audience who like that kind of thing; my Mam prefers it when Ben and Kate are on Rolling Eyes
Wondering if GMB will have their Oscars special this year with over the top everything and a great version of the theme tune.

I don't like Breakfast nor Sunrise. Considering how obsessed I am about the news, an hour-long bulletin from the studios of ITN wouldn't cut it for me, considering that I often have BBC News Channel, Sky News, BBC Radio 5 Live or News Radio UK on in the background. Also, where are your numbers coming from? And how would your idea benefit ITV in any way?

Are you using alternative facts?

How about more than 100,000 Californians evacuated as dam threatens to fail?
