How odd there was another reply here around midday but that has since disappeared. Lets be clear here there is two parts to this thread. Firstly so we can have a good look back at GMTV over its troubled times, and see how it look changed over that period. No one has mention Sunday best/ Sunday review, School holiday show Parkin it or even Saturday Disney yet Wink let not forget this:

Quote:
Within the first six months, GMTV reported £10 million losses - double that which was initially budgeted for.[15] In early September 1993, GMTV approached the ITC regarding the possibility of decreasing its quota of news. Just two months earlier, the ITC had criticised the company for being "too entertainment-led",

Secondly its to see if we can get the details about GMTV correct. Everyone on here is a pres enthusiast, and it kinda of bad the amount of mis-information still floating around about certain pieces of pres, Exact date are just cherry's but come on, we shouldn't have information which is a year out of date, we should be better than that.

I would love for people on the forum to come along and destroy my good self in debating the correct information with certain pres. I do it the other; are myself or others being mean? NO, were just trying to make it very clear what basic, and this is what were on about here, basic information is about. Because that is the only way to drive up standards.

The two remaming points are; when did the 3D ident stop being used and when did the pink titles come in to effect. The dark blue titles come into effect during the summer of 1996, it would be nice to get it more pin pointed but it but than what been stated before.

I apologise for suggesting you were being snappy. I never like to create tension and from now on I won't contribute to this thread as it is not wanted.

I never said you cant contribute, I just rebuffed what you said, that how a forum works. Its just like poking the fire. Wink Its learning curve no should take anything personnel on here. There nothing to stop rebuffing me, and if your lucky you might prove me wrong.

I have manged to get most of the details sorted but well, it just leaves to big question is was there rebrand in September 1994 or 1995
The clocks, grahpics and maybe even the news changed at that point. Or was it another split rebrand? like when the titles were updated in Summer of 1996 but the graphics were never updated until early January 1997?

I wonder why this period is so kept under wraps

From Jan 1995 and it still using the April 93 News graphics and 1993 sting but that doesn't mine there couldn't have something else.

Here is a clip which I believe to be from Monday 27 March 1995 for the TV Bafta: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihni6Zm_c-A

So clearly its was either Feb OR march, 1995 Very Happy

Yet in May it look liked it had change. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEdcRyYj_ic

Back in 95? what the independent newspaper thinks Anthea will look like in 2015

The clock changed as part of the April 93 relaunch. It was another attempt to emulate TV-am (without going the whole hog and having an analogue clock). It's very similar to their launch clock, just shoved in a circle. It changed after a few weeks.

Am I right in thinking their intention was to make it look like a sun?

you are good. Here a report from May 1993 running up to the Eurovision:

GMTV always seemed a little too obsessed with their sun motif in the 90s. At least they didn't have a sun shaped desk (although the Jan '93 set had that circle desk - not sure if they were going for the motif there)

Their first ident... do we think that was a model or CGI? I think the lighting/shadows on it were too good for it to be CGI at the time.

I've always thought it was a model, especially if you look at the alternate one they used before Sunday Best
