Ehh, never watched the original, but I’ve watched Sam and Mark’s Big Friday Wind-Up for the past years, that was a lot better IMO, this felt like more of a 6-10 year olds programmes, but Big Friday Wind-Up felt more like a family show.

Using that theme tune and the day-glo logo provided a heck of a flashback to me. Those and the combination of the taste of tea in our house tonight - breaded fish and oven chips - sent me straight back to 1983.

Thought it was really good, a modern take on the format. I didn't understand Double or Drop, it's not the format from the original, just 'based on'. Seemed to miss the point of giving them cabbages to hold (prize for correct answer, cabbage for wrong one so more cabbages meant fewer toys)

I'm just old enough to remember the Stu Francis era and I'm amazed by how good that was, definitely a lot of respect for the heritage but superbly modernised. The format evolved over the years of the original run, of course, and you could certainly imagine this incarnation as where it would have got to had it continued.

Nice that they have a big studio (where was it?) so they can do pieces like that fire dance - that would never have worked at TV Theatre!

I like that they are able to break a few rules - a kids' show being allowed to make references that kids won't get (Stu Francis doing the crush a grape line) is pretty much unheard of these days.

It certainly looked from the studio audience as though they got the balance right and the kids of today enjoyed it, it wasn't just a nostaligia fest for old farts.

Looks to be MediaCityUK, I believe.

I wonder if they'll swap out the SCD bit for other stars on an episodical basis?

Judging by the video on the design agency's site, I'd say yes. https://www.creativenuts.co.uk/crackerjack

Like Brekkie I'm from the wrong era, they binned it the year I was born so it doesn't really have any nostalgia factor for me personally. Sam and Mark were on Breakfast this morning too (with a funny moment of Sam asking Naga about her appearance on WWTBAM thinking the report was still playing). From a few bits I've seen it seemed a nice nod to the past while hopefully keeping kids entertained today. It gets bonus points just for having a proper title sequence/theme song - how uncommon is that these days!

It was probably always going to be decent when you've got the juggernauts of Steve Ryde and Jamie Wilson at the helm Smile

Speaking of which, maybe we'll get a one-off revival of the latter.

Nearly 4 years since that tweet was made, so I'd doubt it now.

I beg to differ ... but 'originally' is a tad incorrect considering the series PRE-DATES me!

Did someone else originally perform that theme?
