I really hope that changes soon, if ITV News provided a good newshour from 6 - 7am then I would watch that instead of the GMTV Newshour, but as it stands GMTV is a better bet. I think there should be a 4 hour breakfast programme presented by Owen and Felicity and then there should be Alistair Stewart's programme. Let's hope the Sky EPG is totally completely utterly wrong.

Oh well. I was hoping for double-headed bulletins, particularly in the mornings. I suppose they may introduce them later on , but surely it makes sense to do them now?

Maybe the News Channel format/schedule changes will follow later - jamej said that Teletext reported Angela Rippon's Saturday show as starting at the end of February, and someone else posted an article quoting Mannion as saying that further signings for the News Channel would be announced in due course.

The Sky EPG schedule for tomorrow does seem odd, because with that many presenters doing very short on-air shifts, they could easily go double-headed.

Still, we shall find out in a few hours now.

Well on Friday's HTV News they said they were getting a "face lift". That sounds more than a new picture on the big screen to me.

I wonder if its worth me getting up early for the 06:05am gmtv news bulletin?

I wonder if that will still be a HTV News bulletin or an ITV Wales News bulletin?

Well the first regional bulletin during GMTV is at 6.35am isnt it?

I too am wondering if they are launching the new look ITV WALES NEWS with GMTV bulletins, the 10.55am bulletin or the main 6pm bulletin?

www.music4.com has the music they produced for the recent ITV News promo -apparently in under 24 hours!

Nothing mentioned by John Suchet at the end of the Weekend News, probably the last main bulletin to come from that studio.

I've listened to the theme music and it sounds like the Meridian Tonight theme! Any fellow Meridian viewers agree?

Only a few hours to go now! Im off to bed, but ill be up nice and early... I really wanna see how the News Channel is going to handle Breaking News and what the graphics are like. I expect we are are going to see a lot of fancy graphics on that fantastic news wall....

Overall its all looking very exciting... brilliant new music, and cool new set, which like David Mannion said is totally different to all the competition. The current look is so dated it will be nice to see something new and a change from that awful current music!

Roll on 5.30!

That sounds good. I don't get why they repeat programmes. The morning news 3 times in a row is really wierd and a stupid idea.

I'd much prefer the itv news channel to be 24 hours (with simmalcasts (sp?)), as much as possible. Perhaps with short 15 minute/half hour summarys on the hour through the night with programmes (sort of News 24 weekend like). My ideal schedule would be...

5:30 > Morning News simmalcast

6am > ITV BREAKFAST NEWS with Owen & Felicity

10am> Alastair Stewart (maybe for a week or so trialing an old face as a second presenter such as Carol Barnes or Julia Somerville to work alongside him)

12:30> ITV Lunchtime News with Nicholas Owen (ITV1/NC simmalcast)

1pm> Nicholas Owen (perhaps trialing a talkback scheme, where during the hour viewers are encouraged to make contact with the channel and views are read out and displayed on screen)

2pm> Chris Rogers & Andrea Catherwood (Chris, great anchorman, Andrea also great I feel is underused on itv1, and I also can't think of anyone that would work well with Chris, such as Shulie or Heather.)

5pm > ITV News Network (After Headlines at 5, so around 5:05, a host from each region gives their top stories before handing over to the next)

6pm> The Big Three (In depth reports of the day's three leading stories)

6:30>Evening News (ITV1/NC Simmalcast)

7pm > Daily Debate (not name of slot. Following on from the evening news, a show a bit like five news's debate part (do they still do that?) where pannelists and viewers add views on the news to the day's leading stories.

8pm> Andrew Harvey & Leila Deybelge (I liked that suggestion from Altowers, a well balenced double headed team that could work well in the new set with one at the wall and one at the desk into main stories, with the two of them later joined together of course. Dont want to leave poor Leyla by the wall all of the time!)

10:30 > ITV NEWS (main late news ITV1/NC simmalcast)

11pm> Heather McCarthy (Or other broadcaster. This would be half hour bulletins, with a 25 minute programme (Sport round up, entertainment news, science/tech news, an NBC bulletin) following a headline round up at half past.

3am > Rachael McTavish (Continues with Heather Pattern)and then...

5:30 > Morning News (with Rachael, simmalcast with ITV1)

That completes the daily cycle.

Looks like we're getting a recorded loop of Lloyd Bracey overnight tonight. Notice he was in the CSO - no wide shot at the top of the hour.

Isn't it good that unlike other broadcasters, the new set is in another studio so they can use the old studio right up to the day before. No 6 weeks of CSO here!

Anyway, Lloyd Bracey is on the ITV News Channel at the moment and the ticker seems to have gone to bed early. It's quite funny that the Morning News is the first of the new look and with Rachel McTavish. It's the most excitement that bulletin has seen for ages!

Well last time HTV News relaunched Ruth Dodsworth presented the relaunched bulletin at 10:55 in the new revamped 18:00 studio whereas the GMTV bulletins still came from the GMTV news studio with the old look.

I wonder whether we will get a hybrid news service in GMTV being the old studio but new graphics and music?
