Does anyone have the opener bed they used from the "tell that aardvark it's a wrap" days at all?

From what I remember, they showed the "See Hear Breakfast News"- which was a recording of the Breakfast News from earlier with sign language, then went straight into CBBC. I could be misremembering though!

Yes, See Hear Breakfast News was I think at 7:15am, and was the first bit of the 7am Breakfast News, hastily turned around and signed. The duration of the programme was very dependent on what BN did in the programme. Presentation Nc2 would often get a phone call from N3 offering "2 minutes light, or 2 minutes Over pres, what would you prefer?" The answer "could you run to time?" was not often terribly welcome...

That was followed by the CBBC breakfast show, which I think was branded with some letters falling into a cereal bowl, forming up the title... I don't remember any in vis pres from Pres-A, so maybe it was forced by Con2. Anything in vision was definitely not live. The bit before Live and Kicking was also a prerecord ISTR. Only Sunday mornings were live, and even then the really early morning links were prerecorded, with Pres A and later TC9 taking over around 8am (I think). Always liked working in TC9, you got a bacon roll ... Wink

It's somewhere on the MHP Private Parts if you fancy a search! Unless someone kind here wants to upload it...

I believe the afternoon sting with the bed they used in the broom cupboard, and the BFT theme are similar but different pieces of music. The BFT credits which they closed the anniversary show with welds the two together and works quite well.

Here's the 1992 bed (downloaded from MHP back in the day): http://up.metropol247.co.uk/madmusician/CBBC%201992%20Theme.mp3
And the 1994 one for good measure: http://up.metropol247.co.uk/madmusician/CBBC%20Theme%201994.mp3

They're great. I wonder why the autumn 1991 theme only lasted about 6 months before if was replaced with the 92-94 theme?

I've just happened upon this on YouTube - a BFT from 1991

I hadn't realised that the 2Brave BFT theme was used before 1992 - presumably it was felt that it was better than the 1991 CBBC jingle, so 2Brave were asked to do variants on it for the main CBBC slots?

I find it interesting how the BBC2 broadcasts had totally different branding to the main CBBC, I don't think they used the regular CBBC logo on there until 1992.

It always amazes me how David Arnold managed to get away with creating three theme tunes out of the same melody (CBBC, Live & Kicking and The Big Breakfast).

Perhaps the similarity between CBBC and Live & Kicking was intentional. Listening to that 1994 bed, it's almost identical to an L&K bed I've heard before.
Brekkie and Put The Telly On gave kudos

Nowadays the puppeteers have long sun lounger type chairs to lie across behind the 'desk'.

When I saw Otis being operated, the puppeteer, Dave Chapman, had a sort of cushioned piece of wood on castors which he sat/lie on.

Indeed, this is how the Rainbow puppeteers did their work. Interesting to see that George's puppeteer practically wore him on his head! (Warning: Clip contains a naked Roy Skelton!)
