there running late:
yet the ad breaks are filled with promos why have the ad breaks Confused

They always run late, and seem to lag behind from about 10 minutes in!

Ad breaks are scheduled and so have to be taken, the reason they are full of trails is because of the restrictions put on ITV PLC by the contract rights renewal: http://www.ofcom.org.uk/static/archive/itc/uploads/Contract_Rights_Renewal1.pdf

Because of this they can only put out a certain amount of adverts and therefore they concentrate on selling ads during the programmes that will pull in the biggest or most profitable demographic - in this case the X Factor rather than The Comedy Awards.

I'm not sure if the CRR affects STV/UTV/Channel if not that's another reason why the ad breaks have to happen regardless

I love the fact that Charlie Brooker won an award, but 'Best Newcomer'??? The man has been around for years in various forms.

Glad that Graham Linehan won an award too. The man is a brilliant writer but honestly thinks his work is crap. Makes a nice change from people like Ricky Gervais who are dripping with smugness and ego.

Although as he pointed out most of his stuff he's co-written.

Just watching the ITV2 programme, it's absolutely awful. There's some girl presenter who's just rubbish and Leigh Francis doing forced 'crazyness'. All the proper comedians they come in contact with are just looking embarrassed by the whole thing.

I wonder when the extra awards were presented, I assume they were done before the main show rather than squeezing them into the ad breaks

Saw it last night, car-crash telly. Emma Willis didn't even give a stuff about the whole thing. Don't think she even listened to any of the guests..just wanted to party. Keith Lemon (Leigh Francis) was awful too. Kevin Eldon was notably embarrassed.

I suggest him a lot, but Mark Durden-Smith presenting would have been fine. Still, I think they had Kelly Osbourne last year!

Hi Jon, yes, you catch me in the sunny Bahamas at the moment looking out across the ocean, I'm staying full-board at the Grand Ramada Hotel .. better watch out for that shark!

(Well, even she'd be better than Emma Willis!)

Yes Kevin Eldon, quite understandably, was having none of it. The guy from The Inbetweeners too questioned the idea of throwing cheese across the studio

They never seem to get the follow up show right which is a shame because it could be good. Who is Emma Willis anyway

Didn't expect the award for Terry Wogan of all people at the end there but I guess it's his year (semi-retirement technically)

While it's nice to create a lifetime achievement for radio broadcasting, I don't see where his appearance in the genre of 'comedy' comes in...

He makes people laugh. Everything he says is for laughs, more so than Chris Tarrant who won a similar award a couple of years ago.

I concur... you may be pleased to know the Janet & John stories will continue on his new Sunday show Cool ! However the new show will be different from his breakfast show-- it will have a live audience and guests for a start.
