Turned out the wildcard was last. Did the judges make the wrong choice there?
Unless a great act made a massive cock-up that could easily be corrected with another go, a wildcard is always going to be one of the less popular acts in the final.
They're not doing the full reveal in reverse order this year. Shame, like to see someone discover they've finished last.

I think they definitely wanted a comedian to win this year which is why they didn’t end up picking one of the magic acts, though it was always going to be hard to beat LVG in any circumstance when he won his semi final with 40% of the vote.
DVJ only getting 6th was a bit of a shock considering how they were built up throughout the series, Donchez getting third shows how powerful that last place performance slot is!

It’s not unusual for large autocue screens to be fitted with what we call “egg boxes” in front of them. Theyre something akin to those panels that can be fixed to ceiling flourescent lamp fittings. If you view the screen straight on you see the autocue screen information, but if you view it off angle (as perhaps another camera on the floor might) the writing on the autocue screen is shielded off. A bit difficult to describe in words i’m afraid.
Just caught the autocue at the end of The D-Day Darlings . It looked so far away. Im not sure Dec even saw it as it went blank.

Yep - same thing is used to make soft-lights directional - it's effectively a housing on the front of the screen that creates lots of deep diamond or similar shaped 'tubes' that you look at the screen through. You can see the screen fine head on, but when you go off axis, you see the outside surfaces of the tubes, not the screen. It doesn't have to be as deep as one that would just surround the screen so is less obtrusive, and it works across more angles as a result.

Yes, here’s a picture of the sort of thing

David Walliams pretty much the winning judge of the season then, getting his golden buzzer act and two comedians in the top three. I do think the wrong comedian won but overall glad that box has now been ticked - arguably most types of variety act have now won the show over the last 12 years (other than cake eating opera singing contortionists!).
Re: the guests this year. Just a thought but with so many musical acts and more specifically Magic Mike Live being clearly a plug for the show I was wondering whether they were actually Product Placement performances rather than invited guests. OK, arguably all performances are product placement but seems a distinct lack of Syco stars this years. I've never really understood why they don't use BGT as the platform for the X Factor winner to release a debut single ahead of a full album in the autumn.
