The house theme this year is a spy theme. Its built to resemble a spy bunker built into a moutainside. Imagine Mission Impossible or James Bond sneaking into an underground lair. And this has to be one of my favourites they have ever created. Simply brilliant. They completely redesigned the house from lasts years heaven/hell burning castle. This year they really are pushing the EYE theme unlike CBS. The walls are simple and modern and not very colourful. Totally different vibe.

This is the EYE front door from the studio audience set.

Main livingroom - the sofas have changed

They have retained the EYE over the backdoor over the dining table. Last year it was a stained glassed version, so it looks like this will be retained every year.
*
This is the main entrance to the HOH - Notice the 7's signifying the seventh series.
*
This is the backyard looking back toward the house. Cant tell if there is a pool. There seems to be a chillout room available.

Hallway to the diary room - amazing

Big Brother Canada has borrowed and idea from BBUK. a special diary room chair.

Have not room - imagine sleeping in there

Not sure about this one - main house is all a bit beige. Do like though they go for it with the theming.

Really? Well ok, I do get thats its not very colourful. Just curious how you would have changed it?
I kinda get where they were going. Kinda stripped back and bunker-like. After BBCAN6's colour explosion it does seem like a restrained look. Though it does have the twin Austin Powers themed bedrooms. I was surprised the backyard is very stripped back. I cant really see whats in the alcove in the far corner where the pool would have been. Seems like a extra lounge or something (They didnt have a pool last year) But also you notice there are double doors leading from the dining room into that space. I would imagine that gives them an extra room to go when the backyard is closed during the competition installations or if they need to be sequestered for house maintenance. Would you have added more screens or monitors or it is the lighting? The lighting found very stripped back. In some cases just exposed bulbs, which fits the theme. What do you think of the Saw-like Have not room? The theming is incredible. YOu'd think with Hollywood being the centre of the entertainment industry they can do better on BBUS.

The bathroom and livingroom looks like it was directly take from James Bond - Skyfall etc., Q's workspace and the walls in M's office.

Also they apparently revealed there is a secret lounge. Not sure where this is located. Its apparently its in conjunction with one of the sponsors which is a furniture store. Im sure the artwork and the sculptures will play a part in the game somehow. Some of the paintings looking like screens.

Do love the diary room chair, and it is better on second viewing (on a bigger screen). I hated the BB4 (or was it 5) look when it was first released as it seemed so white and sterile, but in the end on screen it worked really well.

Big Brother Canada has released its very diverse group of houseguests this year. Way more diverse than Big Brother US. The casting director for both programmes are exactly the same. So this clearly speaks to the decision of the BB USA executive producer Alison Grodner who likely has a final say so over the houseguests on the CBS. She deservedly takes heat because of this on Twitter every year for the lack of diversity of Big Brother USA houseguests. Its interesting to note the difference between the casting I've seen on BBCAN/BBUS/BBUK.

And finally we get a pic of the new audience stage. It has an eye that opens simlar to the interview stage on BBUK and BBAU. It looks like they reused the BBCAN part from the BBCAN GRAND themed series.

It looks tiny!!! , I hated the eye entrance on C5 but I guess if it’s to do with a spy theme it’s a bit more acceptable...

How is it not acceptable on a show that has had the eye at the core of it's brand for it's entire existence?

I meant acceptable as in a bit easier on the eye (no pun intended), on C5 it always looked incredibly tacky and was there for years but if in Canada it’s only there for one season because of the theme then it’s not so bad. All my opinion of course.

It probably looks tiny because of the perspective. I will check if they duck going thru the doorway. The show starts 7pmET next Wednesday.
