BBC World nearly off-air this morning

I've just been told that BBC World (and News 24 to a lesser extent) nearly fell of the air this morning. The air conditioning unit, which cools all of the broadcast critical computer equipment, failed, with the temperature rising to nearly 42 degrees! At World, the computers were failing one-by-one during the 08.00 bulletin, and eventually they had to abandon N9, and move to N6 (the national studio). Apparently, the 09.00 summary nearly didn't go out, and Pres was prepared to play out an earlier bulletin. They got hold of an industrial fan, which managed to lower the temperature, and they managed to put the 09.00 summary out live.

Not sure how much News 24 was affected - does anyone have any more info on that?

Nothing major, apparently.

At 0900 on News 24.

Arrow Long pause at the end of a promo of One Life.
Arrow No countdown.
Arrow Switches to Louise with the headlines. Instead of showing video linked with the first headline, we just see the end of the One Life promo again. Second headline doesn't have video.
Arrow Things run normally for a few minutes.
Arrow On a piece on Cyprus a few minutes later, both feeds live from Cyprus constantly failed with screen flickering black. One feed entirely abandoned.

Stopped watching after that.

There was no countdown because the promo ended dead on the hour did it not, I'm sure I was watching it at that time and the promo ended right as the clock hit the hour.

Well the countdown should have been about 9 seconds as you heard it play in the background but then the One Life trail went all funny.

There isn't usually a countdown at 9am on a Saturday though is there for some reason? presumably cos its on BBC Two as well? Confused

Has anyone any captures of the things that were going on?
BTW, the BBC World internet stream (the illegal one) doesn't work anymore.

There are 2 HUGE fans down in SCAR for just this sort of thing.

You don't wanna be in there when they're on.

Ha ha, apparently they are of the same kind used on film sets to blow leaves around etc.

They had a test card / colour bars thing on N24 for a few seconds between 1 & 2 this afternoon, cutting Sissons off in his prime.

Can I assume that's not connected ?

Yeah, everything appeared to be back to normal by about 10.00, and it hit BBC World much harder than News 24.
