For anyone interested BBC 2 Wales has a documentary and night of programmes celebrating 50 years of BBC Wales next Saturday.

Korkey's TV Gold: BBC Wales at 50 - is the centre piece at 9pm, with reruns of Tom Jones at 70 and episodes of High Hopes, Grand Slam and Welsh Greats completing the night.

There's also going to be some retro pres. between shows - some original models and some lovingly recreated by Dave Jeffery and myself.

That'll keep a few folk here happy.

Just to share a rather nice example here of recent BBC Wales continuity...

A local BBC One end-of-night handover from just a few nights ago, showing that even after 50 years there's still a place for a more traditional style sign-off announcement - complete with a mention of what's on Radio 2, no less - wishing us goodnight. Al Dupres does the honours:

Very Happy Nice to see Al's efforts acknowledged!

If you watch 'Korkey's TV Gold' tomorrow night at 21:00 on BBC TWO Wales, not only will you have retro continuity around it, but the BBC Wales mechanical globe is seen at the start of the programme, with the mechanical clock - actually working - put to good use at the end.

Bonus points for the use of the phrase 'follows shortly' and a wee bit of music over the menu!

The globe is seen in its 'raw' form at the start of the main programme - from the shot above, the camera then pulls back to show the working model in its actual colours. Sort of similar to how BBC NI made use of their mirror globe in the final farewell to analogue.

Nice idea playing a retro jingle over the Radio Wales slide.
