For God sake, this is on a whole other level of laziness. They couldn't even use the ACTUAL BBC logo?

Watch out... it might actually BE the actual BBC logo not too far down the line.

That logo is no mock, sadly...

Note the odd copyright disclaimer at the bottom of that BBC Studios website: "Logos (C) 1996".

Pick one from embarrassingly poor brand management (plenty of evidence of this both domestically and within the Worldwide operation) or monumentally ill-advised, ill-timed rebrand imminent.

I'll go for the former and trust it will be corrected post-haste...

That is exactly what I am thinking

I don't know what the copyright is, considering the current BBC logo dates from 1997, the Select name from 1992, the coloring from 2002 (Cbeebies), and the Beeb's bad logo choices from 1986.

It's also got a dodgy knockoff copy of the BBC nav bar and the normal BBC footer is absent. Looks more like someone who's been tasked to create a BBC-looking website in an afternoon than something actually from the BBC - not saying this is a fake, it could well be some external marketing agency has been brought in to manage the pre-release press stuff. Like the logo, it's close enough that most people won't notice it's not right.

But I'm having hopes that the BBC logo here is some crappy placeholder and they use the real logo later down the line

The current BBC blocks were first seen on air in 1997, but they would have been designed/planned/thought about before that, in 1996, as Lambie-Nairn wouldn't have just snapped his fingers and a shiny new logo suddenly appear out of thin air. You only have to look on the back of any BBC DVD and it says "BBC Logo copyright 1996".

But the BBC logo used on the website is in reith, so it's not the same as the one made by Lambie-Nairn

Here's a better version of the "BBC Select" logo.

Let's see how long it takes until news outlets decide to use this one instead mistaking it for the real one.

A few tattle-tale signs
- Actual BBC logo used.
- Reith is utilised.
- The block that is placed in the S covers the entire letter, instead not making the font look like Ad Lib.
