BBC Four Christmas Pres 2020

Not really a fan of starting new threads, but as there's nothing else for the channel this year yet and the other one seemed to be very geared towards BBC One. Something new from BBC Four for their festive pres package this year it seems, first aired into the 9pm junction. I suspect they'll be mixing this in with ones from previous years again.

Nice enough but the split isn't as well done as on other idents.

I'm honestly just glad when they stick to using the 'split' feature at all. So many of the more recent additions have just been a BBC Four logo stuck in the middle of the screen over the top of footage, so it's nice to see they've not forgotten about the split completely.

Was strange how they introduced a new set but didn't really commit to it.

Reindeer at 10pm - gorgeous. Has BBC4 got a Slow TV event this Christmas?

BIB- it would appear there is no new "slow" event on BBC Four this year. However, "All Aboard! The Great Reindeer Migration" is being repeated on Saturday 12th December at 7pm. In fact, it's already available on the iPlayer.

It's a bit of a shame that they don't do anything especially creative with the split anymore, though. Whereas the original set all used the four quadrants in a nice (and sometimes pretty subtle) way, nowadays it's just one bit of footage which is then slightly offset and maybe colour graded differently in each quadrant.

BBC Four's presentation is understandably not high on the agenda for a refresh, and to be fair they have done a few nice things like introducing Reith Serif to the promos etc to avoid the whole thing becoming completely stale, but after fifteen years it'd be nice to see some different ideas!
