Here's a 2005 clip of NY1, an all-news channel for New York City that is reportedly the model for BFM Paris, which is set to launch next month:

NJTV News, New Jersey, 2016:

New Jersey's statewide PBS system is one of the few to offer daily news bulletins. NJTV News is based out of Newark, NJ, a satellite city of New York City. The operations of the statewide network were transferred to WNET in New York when its predecessor NJN was shuttered after austerity measures in 2011. WNET seems to have done a good job with upgrading the network with a robust newsroom in Newark's main rail station. NJN News was quite obviously working with few resources back in 2010, having the same set and graphic since 1995:

By the way, NJTV anchor Mary Alice Williams was a prominent New York-based anchor at CNN in the 1980s:

Back to France and the i>Télé strike.

LCI has become the main beneficiary of the strike.

Most popular news channels in France.

BFMTV - 2.6%
LCI - 0.6%
i>TELE - 0.3%

No figures for Franceinfo sadly.

Incidentally one of i>Télé's senior presenters went on a debate show on France 5 this weekend to say that she personally won't strike. She also presents topical programmes for C8, so not a real surprise.

European Business Channel promo, 1988:

As the YouTube description states,

"EBC was the first business channel for Europe -- or rather a programming block carried on different channels such as Sky News and RTL in the morning hours. Broadcast from Switzerland, it was launched in 1988 and ceased broadcasting only two years later in 1990."

There was also European Business News, which operated in the mid-1990s. Its elegant graphics were ahead of its time, but the channel merged with CNBC Europe in 1998 and ceased operation. (I bet its pan-European Media Report would have been of interest to many people here!)

This 1996 clip is anchored by Becky Anderson, now of CNN International:

Media Report was essential viewing. I think it did initially transfer to CNBC Europe along with some other EBN programming, but didn't last long.

That's right, we didn't have access to EBN for long, but Media Report was a good programme to watch. Here's a clip I recorded about the launch of Pay Per View TV:

They also had an interesting report about the launch of the UKTV network, which I did have recorded, but annoyingly I think I've since disposed of the tape and not transferred to DVD, as per the above.

კურიერი 9 / Kurieri 9 (main news programme of Georgian private broadcaster რუსთავი 2 / Rustavi 2), in 2014.

It is still the current design of the newscast, although nowadays, the second part of the intro (in which the newsreader walks next to three pictures appearing on the set) is absent.

Design-wise, the style of the intro is rather similar to those of many Russian news intros, with lots of sophisticated, dramatic CGI (I don't complain about it, though). I like the music a lot.

The sound level is low, maybe you will need to raise the volume.

Returning to EBN. If you recall, EBN was a Dow Jones operation. They merged with CNBC, took on the CNBC brand and moved into Dow Jones's base in London, which led to a new studio for CNBC and I believe the start of using the peacock logo. The old CNBC logo was basic before the merger.

Sky analogue viewers for a while had two feeds of CNBC post merger, the 24/7 pan-European FTA feed and the encrypted EBN feed, which timeshared with another channel, so went off-air at noon.

Interesting! Speaking of post-merger CNBC Europe, here's the intro to Europe Today from 1998 -- the logo was based on the Today Show logo:
