Page Six is reporting that Scott Pelley may be taken off the Evening News, though the article doesn't really mention any names as to who could reasonably take over.

One of those articles where the entire article is denying everything stated in the article.

NBC News is shuttering its Breaking News app and the @BreakingNews twitter feed December 31. Breaking News was sold to MSNBC in 2009 after its 2007 founding. In 2012 it became under the umbrella of NBC News after it acquired the rest MSNBC Interactive from Microsoft. The operation currently employs 20 staff members including Editors, developers and journalists who will remain employed through January 20. Unfortunately the project was unable to sustain itself. NBC Universal hopes to find jobs within the company from the staff.

I am upset about this news as it's a great app that aggregates news from hundreds of sources (including NBC's domestic competitors) and redirects users to the appropriate website. It's the perfect app for a news junkie.

Too bad, though I never really understood why NBC bought it. It never really seemed to make much business sense. I also could be wrong, but it seemed like it was better and much faster with breaking news in the early Twitter days pre-NBC.

Would be a shame. The only evening news host with some authority and credibility.

His delivery is a little slow and wooden, but there's no question the broadcast has improved tremendously on his watch.

Seeing how the Page Six article has so few specifics, I doubt they're looking to make an anchor change anytime soon, especially after their competitors just did pretty recently. But it would be smart if CBS were at least thinking about who might succeed him.

That throwback piccy is nice. It was nice when they actually did hard news in the morning with a little brevity. Used to look forward to those hard hitting interviews now it all singing all dancing all the time. So sad and tarnished now.

First hour is still quite newsy IMO, especially last year or so.

In other news, Megyn Kelly leaves FOX for NBC.

Interested to see where they find an hour in daytime for this. Can't see them cutting back Today; so Days of Our Lives looks likely for the chop.
