Interesting that it it was executive produced by Mike Blair who used to edit Central News South then East and it wasn’t produced by ITN.

That's not uncommon, they used to use a sat truck from outside TV Centre when reporting from outside. Can be easier to use a sat truck than lash up rarely used tie lines as that's what they are designed and built to do so there's no hassle

Yes - that can still be an easier option (as can using a WMT/Live U) as having tie-lines doesn't guarantee you will have the right bits of kit at each end to handle comms etc.

Not sure of the reasons for deploying an SNG. Are we sure this wasn't just to feed arrivals and reporter lives rather than the actual programme?

And the BBC received the feed via ITN in London (as did Sky) - rather than locally on the ground.

Yes it will have been for reporting the event rather than to provide a feed of it.
