Straight to the Today programme more like.
The benefit of Sunrise was that it was more newsy and none of the Breakfast stuff about animals and gardening.
Hopefully that will remain the case, but Kay - however good she is at live tv - is an acquired taste. I struggle sometimes to watch her interview a politician. Unnecessarily combative and often seems to become quite personal or even rude very quickly. It’s not easy viewing.
Most baffling for me is not just why ditch Sunrise, but why opt for Breakfast? A name so associated with a rival channel.
All that said, Sunrise needed a refresh and I’ll be glad never to see that god awful studio again. Moving to Westminster makes perfect sense and positions the channel as much more of a political outfit.
Good luck to them.
If anything, I think it might alienate loyal Sunrise viewers and send them to BBC Breakfast instead. Sky should be offering something different, not just a poor copy of GMB.
