If anything, I think it might alienate loyal Sunrise viewers and send them to BBC Breakfast instead. Sky should be offering something different, not just a poor copy of GMB.

Straight to the Today programme more like.

The benefit of Sunrise was that it was more newsy and none of the Breakfast stuff about animals and gardening.

Hopefully that will remain the case, but Kay - however good she is at live tv - is an acquired taste. I struggle sometimes to watch her interview a politician. Unnecessarily combative and often seems to become quite personal or even rude very quickly. It’s not easy viewing.

Most baffling for me is not just why ditch Sunrise, but why opt for Breakfast? A name so associated with a rival channel.

All that said, Sunrise needed a refresh and I’ll be glad never to see that god awful studio again. Moving to Westminster makes perfect sense and positions the channel as much more of a political outfit.

Good luck to them.

Both Kay and SJM will be broadcasting from the green outside Parliament tomorrow on account of the Queen's speech, so you won't get to see their respective studio set-ups until Tuesday. Niall, however, will still be in the glass box at 6am.

(I know I said he'd be in Studio 6, but that was the plan as I understood it at the time.)

SJM I can understand but not much benefit for KB@B and not really the way to launch it. Surely the idea of being in Millbank is so they don't have to stand outside.

Strange choice of political guests. All from left parties, all remainers.

It's generally down to who they can book. The Conservatives haven't exactly been forthcoming with interviews etc lately.

The problem with the SJM era of Sunrise was that it was too bland, imagine going from a strong personality led anchor to a solid presenter, who is capable of asking the same questions, but doesn't have the impact of the previous presenter. It didn't help that for the majority of the hour, Niall Paterson was relegated to bulletins, leaving SJM to solo anchor, when he could have made it a decent pairing.

So it appears that Sky have decided to go for another former ITV breakfast tv presenter who is also part of Sky News's heritage to anchor. Kay may be marmite, but 'everyone' knows who she is and will challenge her guests accordingly.
