I think they pretty much got it right with those awards.

Panorama was a powerful piece of journalism, Sky's reporting on Libya and the UK riots was superb, Alex Crawford definitely was journalist of the year for me, Newsnight had an excellent year, Al Jazeera English is a great channel and I've been a fan of Anna Botting since her days hosting with Bob Friend so I was pleased to see she won.

Caught fault RTS there. They had worthy winners.

Indeed, well deserved. The only inovative presentation channel at the moment really.

I was hoping of something like this on the News channel, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAV56slpu8s

Albeit they didn't win News channel of the year this year this year!

Interesting the main national BBC1 and ITV1 bulletins went home empty handed. Unlike previous years I don't think ITV News deserved anything really - though Newsnight has come in some flack over recent months so whether it is a deserving winner of News Programme of the Year I don't know. Frankly though all news programmes have not been at their best in the last 12 months.

Newsnight had a great year in 2011 with coverage of Libya, Egypt, phone hacking. It was way ahead of ITV/BBC News At Ten and JUST ahead of Channel 4 News in my view.
