So, Raymond Snoddy is to leave Newswatch as it moves over to BH. He is to replaced by Samira Ahmed of Channel 4 News chair spinning fame. (This is according to a post in the rota-moron thread anyhow)

What I'm wondering is what could newswatch do to improve itself? I've always found it has numerous problems from the points of view parody letters, to the minor problems that people complain about and of course the consistent fobbing off of any complaint from management with management speak.

I also must say I have never cared for Snoddy as a presenter.

I do wonder whether giving the odd behind the scenes of how things have been put together might help explain why some things are as they are. In addition I'd hope that better answers are extracted from management rather than allowing them the fob offs they often come out with.

Of course one of the main issues with Newswatch is that it panders to the green ink brigade who will never be satisfied until it reports in detail on their own anti-Isreal / pro-Labour / pro-Tory / BARCO-alignment fantasies, yet there are plenty of issues that can be raised that I deel the current show fails to do.

So any ideas?

Great idea! I suspect they will change the programme slightly then with this change. Interesting they picked Samira to present. She has been doing lots for Radio 4/ World Service and now replacing Susanna Reid on Sunday Live, so she seems to be someone they are searching for a bigger role. I wonder where this will come.

Maybe they could do a Watchdog and merge it with Points of View, extending it to 30 minutes. Oh no wait that would just ruin it, like with Watchdog.

And then one of the presenters would be jailed... oh, wait...

No I mean, she's more confrontational then Snoddy is.

Totally disagree Watchdog works very well in its current format. The first series of the merged show was very dodgy but it has been very good since then. The last few years of Nicky Campbell/Julia Bradbury were beyond parody.

No need to bother telling me, I've accepted that it's only my opinion that Watchdog was better before Anne Robinson returned and they merged it with Rogue Traders.

They could keep them separate, but rename Newswatch to "Points of News".
