Michael Fish will hang up his clicker after the ten o clock news on Wednesday 6th October. So what sort of tributes/recognition do you think that the BBC should give him after 32 years loyal service to BBC Weather, If any. Thoughts and Suggestions welcome.

There'll be something on the news probably, but nothing more.

Perhaps they should get him in to the studio on the 10 and have a chat, and also on N24.

Its a shame Michael has to retire. Have his autograph when i met him in Ballykelly!!

I bet he's looking forward to being able to make money appearing in adverts like Ian McCaskill, which of course the Met Office forbids of its employees.

he could advertise Fish Fingers under his own brand. If he grew a beard he could be the captain birdseye for the 21st century.

I'm sure it was decreed by Asa that weather topics should be in the main forum.

Awww Nick, I can tell you're not taking the news of Fish's retirement too well, and if this is your way of dealing with it - well - go right on ahead!

Speaking personally , I find discovering a 'weather' thread in the News Forum is a lot less of an annoying inconvenience than every other thread being interrupted by a discussion on which forum it should be in.

Can we just get on with discussing the matter in hand, and leave moderators to move threads they think are in the wrong place?

(And yes, I know I'm probably a hypocrite for posting this.)

Personally, I think it makes more sense to discuss Weather in the News forum - weather forecasts are seldom broadcast separately from news bulletins, are now often integrated in the programmes themselves, and of course form an important part of the output of the various news channels.

I totally agree with you, James. I was simply repeating what was instructed to us by our masters.

Our previous discussion applies!
