I shouldn't worry about creating a stir, though there are enough people here who do that already just by being honest with our comments, me included.
As far as Good Evening Britain goes, the current likelihood of such a programme is 0%. The Chase is successful, Tipping Point could replace it, and they could probably sustain the slot with repeats of The Chase for a year or more without it actually hurting the ratings significantly.
That said, should The Chase end, for whatever reason, and ITV suddenly find it difficult to fill that slot, a Good Evening Britain style show is one of two not unreasonable options that could be utilised to fill it. The other being extend the regional news to 90 minutes, like you get in North America in various forms. 5-7pm on various North American broadcasters is often made up of 30 minute network news plus 90 minutes of local/regional news, whether in a 90 minute block or split into a 30 and a 60 with the network news at 5:30pm.
But right now, I see no chance in hell, of a Good Evening Britain programme happening, within the next 3-5 years.
I think it’s safe to assume that such an idea is unlikely. It seems I’ve caused a stir as well which wasn’t my intention.

If that were the case generally, you wouldn't see stations in North America running non-stop news broadcasts from 4pm to 7pm. It's just a case of how it's done, and neither BBC nor ITV do it really well at the moment, not in terms of producing something that works in a commercial sense. RTE runs news programming from 5:40pm to 7pm, sometimes 7:30 with Nationwide, and it seems to work well for them, so there's no reason really why it couldn't happen at some point, but it has absolutely no chance of happening now, or in the near future.
Think of Good Evening Britain being like ITV's version of the One Show, and more like a magazine than an actual news bulletin, and it would probably work.
90 mins of news would be a ratings disaster imo

I agree, though I don't think it will happen, I would personally much prefer to watch that sort of show than what ITV often have on from 19:00-20:00.

Ireland likes it's news But in reality the News Runs on RTE from 6 to 7. The bit between 5.40 and 6 is The News in Irish which they have to carry and has almost no audience. Most News Junkies are Watching TV3 News from 5.30 to 6 which is often the most watched programme on the station if you don't count the ITV soaps. Traditionally you turn over to BBC1 or UTV for the Headlines at 6 and then when the Angelus is over you switch over to Six-One on RTE 1.

Probably could if it was a mix of local national and international stories with some local features stories thrown in. Just sayin'
Could most English regions really come up with 90 minutes worth of content every day? I get the feeling some regions struggle with 30 minutes!

I know it's just fun at making our own assumptions to something she would like, but why have all the 'what I'd like' be 4pm - 6pm?
Imagine if News at Ten had been a total disaster. A one hour 10pm, Good Evening Britain, would be a great idea, in a similar format to the morning version. Offering something completely different to the BBC News at Ten.

No, they could definitely fill 90 minutes, but they'd probably need to invest in additional journalists and producers, and if I'm honest, I don't think they'd do it right.

You could make a reasonable argument for moving The One Show to 7.30 and putting on something more droppable so that the nations and occasionally those regions with a big story can extend more easily.
