End of a Yorkshire Duo

Announced tonight on Itv Calendar that both John Shires and Gaynor Barnes are retiring from Itv Yorkshire, they between them have over 60 years on Calendar and YTV!

Be sad o see them go

It was announced on tonight’s programme that both Gaynor Barnes and John Shires are both retiring after next Friday’s programme

They apparently have a combined service of 60 years on Calendar and on Yorkshire TV in general

After 30 years with ITV News we'll be waving goodbye to two familiar faces and staples of the Calendar region.

Wish them well When did Gaynor start doing the breakfast bulletins?. I think Carolyn Hodgson did it before her. and they presented the programme for East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire too?

Shame to see them go. Always a pleasure when they’re on together, they never felt like the B team.

That’s a shame to see them go. I’ve always rated them much more highly than Christine and Duncan.

I’ll miss John’s grumpy persona. There is never a show goes by where he isn’t moaning about something by the end.

Is there a specific reason why they are leaving? A shame when anybody leaves a programme after so many years; but two together?

Think both those happened at the same time. The short lived East version ended in 2009 and Gaynor moved to GMTV bulletins

The Friday presenter of Calendar was Kate Walby at that point, Gaynor only got her regular weekly role on Calendar back when Kate moved to Lookaround
