It also shows the pitfalls of 'flip-flopping' between the static behind the presenters shot of the New York skyline - all virually cloudless and in the process of a brilliantly bright sunrise...

...and the actual reality live shots in/out of breaks and the comedy act weatherman's live shots before the maps of a cloudy, misty, grey daybreak/early morning over Manhattan and Holbolken. Rolling Eyes

I know why the over the shoulder shots have to be always 'warm and welcoming', but it does lead the viewer to think why they can't use a live shot all the time and be consistant.

I don't mind this, as it's a really nice, striking image and fairly obviously static. WNBC's live shot of a similar view is realistic but not as nicely-framed, never quite as pretty, and often obscured by darkness, fog or low cloud.

Neither WABC nor WNYW use live shots in the background. WPIX can never seem to make up their mind.

WNYW has a background that has not changed in years. They really should change it

Yep - occasionally the presenters make fun of it, especially the lack of the new World Trade Center tower. WCBS and WNBC have both had three new sets since WNYW's current one made its debut.

Effectively making WNYW using the oldest set in the New York City market, even its sister Fox News and Fox Business had introduced new sets several times since WNYW introduced theirs.

WNYW's is the oldest in the market by quite a considerable margin. I think they've had it since 2006 - the next oldest is WABC's from 2011.

CBS Sunday Morning. After nearly 40 years CBS Sunday Morning debuted a new set. Its similar to the old one so as not to jar the senses of the audience. I think its a nice gentle update for a show that doesnt change its tone very much after nearly 40 years.

US audiences may be used to it, but on first view I found the face of the sun logo quite scary.

With regards to CBS News and CBS, is there not a set font for the typography? I've seen many different versions.

Here is the actual set that debuted. The trees arent permanent. They are for the autumn debut. They change up the set dressing depending the season or programme theme.

Forty years of the same set is very impressive, when you consider the pace at which TV changes.
