Thought this warranted it's own thread. The broadcasters are beginning to update their schedules for Brexit night on 31 January.

BBC One will be simulcasting a BBC News special with Huw Edwards from 10pm-11:15pm, replacing the BBC News at Ten.

Quote:
Leaving the EU: BBC News Special
Live coverage of the moment the United Kingdom leaves the European Union, presented by Huw Edwards with reports and analysis from the BBC News team across the UK and around the world.

Does anyone know if ITV have any plans?

ITV News at 10 is 10pm- 11.25pm.

Tom Bradby is joined by special guests in the studio, and ITV News presenters and correspondents around the country, for the countdown to the historic moment the UK leaves the European Union. Tonight's event comes after three extensions and three-and-a-half years following the referendum on the issue of continued membership. Plus, the day's other national and international headlines.

I do wonder what exactly they will do on screen at 11pm, or will they countdown (as they presumably will be doing) to literally nothing?

Not entirely sure why it's deemed worthy of a "News Special" in all honesty.

Nothing changes at 11pm, all that happens is we officially "do" Brexit but thanks to the transition period, it's still "in" the EU in all but name. At whatever point it is in 2021 when transition ends is probably going to be more interesting from a presentation point of view, because that's when a No Deal becomes a real possibility - not at the end of this month.

I would not be surprised if these presentations are nothing but an hour of filler waffle and a shot of Big Ben at 11pm and then more filler waffle for the next 15/25 minutes. Or am I missing something?

Curiously the description has changed already, and the presenter is now listed as Sophie Raworth.

There are also two versions of the schedule currently online - Hull & CI show part 1 as 2200-2225, with the following:
Quote:
With only an hour till the United Kingdom leaves the European Union, Katty Kay, Christian Fraser and Ros Atkins present live coverage from London and Brussels
. Part 2 follows at 2235 after the regional news.

I don't think so no, but the Beeb just can't resist filling airtime with a dual channel simulcast of pointless lives, regurgitating stuff we've already seen, in this case centered at a deserted renovation building site in Westminster

I understand ITV+1 will be broadcasting the bongs at 11pm, no matter what.

Adam Hills will be shaving his beard for C4. That's about the only good thing about it.

Yes but it’s a very symbolic moment. We will have left and there’s no turning back.
