Are problems like this really his fault?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEi0rPTUEhM
One of the most memorable clip apart from th Gremlins one.
No, of course that wasn't his fault. However, he hardly handled it very effectively. He's also not very good at dealing with breaking news, which is an essential requirement for news channel presenting in the 21st century. I've always thought Sissons should be back on BBC One where he belongs.

Of the current selection of newsreaders, I would say Alastair Stewart is probably the best. He obviously can turn his hand to anything.
I would say my all-time favourite newsreaders are Michael Buerk and John Suchet. Both of them were cool and calm but had lots of authority. Peter Sissons was good on the BBC One news bulletins, but has sadly faded since he went to News 24.

Tosh! How easy it is so sit back and watch technical glitches and claim "so and so" is not handling it well. I've been involved in programmes when we've lost power just before TX, Servers have crashed meaning the normal quiet studio discipline errupts into confusion as several people try and use talk back at the same time.
The poor presenter is left either guessing what's next or single - handedly carrying on in the hope that the gallery catch up.
It takes real nerve and concentration.
I watched Peter Sissons as a single anchor handle the Glasgow bomb attack and thought he coped well in a constantly changing programme.
Conducting interviews and taking direction with skill.

I'm under no illusions as to how difficult presenting is. I've been in galleries during several lives news programmes over the past few years. However, I know that other presenters more suited to rolling news would cope a lot better than Peter Sissons. I'm not completely criticising him as a presenter - I always thought he was fantastic on BBC One. I just think the BBC should use him where he is best suited. Why make him struggle along on News 24 when he's far better at handling the big bulletins?

Michael Buerk wins it for me every time!
However I'm quite fond of Richard Bath (who they made redundant because they're foots obviously)... Fred Dineage who stands out with his character and from the BBC Natalie Cornah is a well recognised face in the south west and James Dagwell seems to be up and coming.

Oo, er! LOL.
I actually quite like James' style, although it did take a while (about 3s) to get used to! I vote for James to be instated as the replacement for Huw Edwards on the Ten.
In fact.............let's hijack a thread! Who should replace Huw on the Ten?? (Let's assume his replacement is a mandatory requirement, because - for example - he is promoted to a new Sunday morning show, Breakfast with Huw).
For the Ten, I would suggest:
1) James Dagwell
2) Susan Osman
3) Sian Williams
4) Mary Nightingale or
5) Gavin Scott
No one else on the planet is worthy to be within seventy paces of any of the above superbeings.

Seriously , though, I would vote for Peter Dobbie as the best presenter although Alastair Yates is my favourite.
Peter D has got it all - excellent reader, insightful interviewer, superb intellect, good sense of humour. His is a class act. He has presence / charisma.
