Please do Gavin, I'd love to hear that!
This tour sounds really great from what everyone's saying, wish I could have gone while it was in my neck of the woods.
I dont seem able to upload either an mp3 or a zip version to TomServos webspace. A picture is all I can manage at the mo.

I can thoroughly recommend the tour. Spent a nice few hours watching people having a go, and even had a shot of reading Radio 1's Newsbeat. Excellent fun, and even a tape to take away. I might upload a bit later.

You look the part!
Try YouSendIt - just type in your own e-mail address, then post up the link and it should be available to download from their site for a few days at least.

Here you go.
I'm not sure its worth the wait, but it was fun to do. Watch your ears for the squealing feedback when my (10 year old) co presenter did his headline.
The goodie bag was nice, too.

That's not bad at all!
Very authoritative voice (I'm thinking Rhod Sharp!), I hope you kept your 10 year-old sports news presenter in check. I'm guessing the feedback happened when he leant forward to reach the mic?!

Just so. I've spared you the 4 minute sports section. The poor lad had Jose this, and Jaques that. Even I would have struggled. Sports must be the worst for difficult names.

Or 'Victoria Beckham lookalike Flora Fox from Pocklington finding Posh Spice's famous pout a tricky proposition....... but after a few purse-lipped pointers down the phone, it's all posh when plucky Flora puckers up', as I got in Hull with Peter Levy.... that bit's on the 'unseen footage' on my tape!

I have no idea. Katherine you'll have a delightful day. You can join in as much or as little as you like and no one will make you feel awkward about being there as long as you want. Taking part is easy, and even though the TV and Radio broadcasts are played out to the assembled people, I didn't see anyone looking nervous. Darren Bett was there helping with the weather forecasts and Darren Jordan helping the presenter with tips and advice. Both seemed to be having a great time. Very smily chaps.
Doing the weather today were a saxophonist (who accompanied Darren), a lady with a chihuahua in a tartan bunnet, and a teeny tiny little girl who was so small she barely reached up to the bottom of the CSO screen. Its worth noting that this is the Edinburgh Festival, so the first two were quite 'normal' for August, I assure you.
Katherine this would be a brilliant opportunity to try the weather again. Nicky's presentation explains how the weather has to be done from memory, along with the graphics, with a countdown from 10 as you hand back to the newsdesk. You would go through the graphics with Darren, have a quick rehearsal and then the show is live. No time to be nervous.
The Director's talkback to the presenters and 'gallery' is played over the speakers, so you can follow them cueing up the TX1 and 2 servers. The titles, stings and vt packages are played off servers so are smooth and instant. Very impressive. For the TV Forum type, best of all are the specially branded BBC1 idents which start the programme, voiced by a network announcer as "Live from the Edinbugh Festival...". I'm sure they will have one for each town on the tour.
Quite genuinley everywhere I looked all the staff were smiling and generally just being around should you want to ask *anything*. Other things I didn't get a look at yet are the graphics computers. You can make some 3D maps or tweak with the LIVE and REPORTER captions. I noticed them printing some glossy copies of someones artwork. Have a shot at commentating on a sports event. Mix the vision or the sound, run the autocue or operate the camera. Lots of ways to spend a day doing the things we talk about on here.
I'm going to pop up again tomorrow, and have a shot of presenting the One, Six or Ten programmes. Ah why not? There is a big parade at lunchtime (Fringe Sunday)., which tends to pull quarter of a million people away from everywhere else in the city, so if I'm very lucky I might have it to myself. I'll be like a kid in some kind of a store.

I visited on Friday and tried out the weather and the news. I must admit, the weather is very difficult, you have to hand it to the presenters, remembering everything and putting it together seamlessly, it is very difficult, and as Darren Bett kept reminding me, BIG SMILES!
The news was slightly easier, having autocue, but when the operator is about 10 years old and keeps whizzing it away, it becomes quite difficult.
Can anybody here tell me exactly what they were talking about when they mentioned someone helping out a correspondent on Sunday? They took my name and number down as they thought I was quite good (not bad considering I am only 15) and was wondering what exactly it was, even though they didn't call me!
