Really hoping there is still a manned jib in this studio. From watching clips of World News in NBH B, a jib being used for most shots keeps the set fresh for every edition IMO as no two shots at the same. One day the show could open straight to it ala GMT, other day it can be used for a wide shot. Little things like that can keep sets looking fresh IMO.

I think the quite low ceiling might limit the possibilities of a GMT style opening.

Suppose so, although the Global opening is good too, swinging across the studio straight to an MCU or close enough to it.

By just looking at the image on the other page I'd be surprised if you could fit a mini-jib in that studio let alone move it around.

Where is that picture taken from?

Depends what you mean, it was taken from the BBC Website of Studio C in Pacific Quay. However if you mean what camera, I am assuming that it is from a photographic camera and not a television camera on a jib as that is how you usually shoot photocalls.

Surely if it can fit the photographic camera up that high then it could fit an jib or a minijib with an overslung head in?

The One Show have used a jib in both their White City and their Broadcasting House studios (and these are not exactly on the large side). Even a relatively short jib can be useful - both for movement and for providing more variety of static shots than you would otherwise have.

Nick Garrod has some relevant pictures on his Flickr account.

The One Show jib is visible in this photo, and Breakfast's tiny little thing is visible in the corner of this photo.

The other side of TV hey - not sure I'd want to be staring at that wall for three hours every morning.
