No evening BBC 1 bulletins Xmas day & Boxing day (December 2020)

The issue is important yes, but BBC One is not a rolling news channel, though it likes to play at being one when something major happens or an important enough minister stands in front of a podium. There are other outlets for news, at least four of which are available to everybody on Freeview - this isn't the 1980s...

I can't imagine the football on Boxing day being allowed to go ahead now anyway, so another film will have to be found to fill the gap.

The virus and Brexit are not taking Christmas holidays. We still don't know if MPs will be sitting during or immediately after Christmas to pass a Brexit deal.

You must be out of your mind if you think Boris will be arsed to do a press conference on Christmas or Boxing day.
I think a break from news bulletins would be good for some....

Can I respectfully suggest you may be getting a bit too hung up on this.
If you really want a bulletin on these two days, flip over to the news channel at 1, 6 and 10 (or any time you want) and watch for a while, if it makes you feel better.

It's been a rapidly evolving national crisis for 9 months. If you really are clamouring for the latest details on Christmas day then go to the news channel and let everyone else have the f**king day off.

I find it funny that people think there is no teatime bulletin on Christmas Day because the BBC want to give everyone a day off from hearing about the virus.

If that was the case there wouldn’t be a lunchtime bulletin, late bulletin or 3 hours of Breakfast.

As said before, it’s purely a scheduling decision to not disrupt the flow of the main bulk of the day’s programme.

No, it's mostly bemusement at the fact some seem to think there should be an extended bulletin because of the virus.

Looking at News Channel & World News it's largely the same schedule meaning I think they plan to simulcast from 00:00 on Christmas Day until 06:00 on Boxing Day expect for Breakfast

If a 2 minute update at 4.40pm on Christmas Day isn't enough for you then watch the ITV bulletin at the same time for a 20 minute version. In all honesty I doubt you'll be more informed - nowadays I often find a one minute radio bulletin more useful than watching a news channel for an hour.

It's been a rapidly evolving national crisis for 9 months. If you really are clamouring for the latest details on Christmas day then go to the news channel and let everyone else have the f**king day off.

The way things are going it's not impossible that the government will announce shop closures on Xmas day that are effective that night. Given that many people head to bed early so that they can be outside next by the early hours of the morning on boxing day in order to buy 8 of the same jumper in different sizes it would be an essential piece of public service broadcasting to cover that on BBC One at some point during the main schedule.
