BBC news not doing the usual 30 mins news 30 mins pre recorded programme today was that always planned or is it because it’s a big news day?

I assume that Dragons: Gift of the Night Fury and Pointless Celebrities will be dropped then, and How to Train Your Dragon 2 will be 20 minutes early? That way they can go to the news special at 4.50 and run it until 6, when the normal news is scheduled.

Virgin Media EPG still has back half programmes so it was a late change

I bet they’ll drop Dragons Gift of the Night Fury meaning the main film How to train your Dragon 2 can start 20 minutes earlier than billed at 3:15pm, ending at 4:50pm.

This appears to be exactly what's happening-on air at 4:50 with George Alagiah.

Of course he's no stranger to it from his GMT days on BBC World News and the odd cover shift he did on News 24 back in the late 90s.

Oh I agree. I take it this leaves Fiona Bruce as the only BBC One face who hasn't presented any of the Downing Street presser simulcasts then? (not counting the initial lockdown statement in March).

I do recall Fiona presenting a few of the BBC simulcasts, here's one for example https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000jj2b/bbc-news-special-coronavirus-daily-update-11052020

In other news, a rare appearance of Matthew Amroliwala in studio E this afternoon.
