News at Ten animation idea

Okay, so this is just me trying to learn animation so I know it's not amazing but I'd like to hear feedback. It took quite a while for something so pathetically short! Sorry about that.

I can already say after this first attempt I don't think the colours work as you can barely see the clock face, but I'm more interested in the animation side of things I suppose as it's a new 'skill' to have. I guess putting it in HD and full screen might help.

I'd request separate attention to the logo formation and the clock face formation. This is a rough first draft.

Looks good, the animation is alright, maybe a different animation for the 'NEWS AT TEN' bit could be used, but everything else is fine.

The clock face is good (agree that the colours should be changed a little bit) but I like the idea of using the glass (or whatever it is) that's in the centre of the clock for the start of the animation.

The ITV News logo looks awful.

Not bad for a first attempt though.

Okay, thanks. I'll probably maybe do another version, and if I do I'll definitely be looking at the colours and animation for the 'News at Ten' text.

Okay Rob. Thank you for posting in the thread. I can't pretend I'm not a little disappointed you didn't go into specifics but thanks anyway. I can't improve the logo without knowing why it's awful.

I don't like how the ITV News logo is in a box. It just doesn't look right. Having it just white on a transparent background would look better in my opinion.

Okay, noted. I was angling for a Sky News style logo as planned to bring that to astons, etc. But I'll take it on board and consider what you've said if I revise these. Thanks.

I like the spinning clock face, that's good. The 'NEWS' part would potentially look better in white, but I like the thicker 'AT TEN'.

The ITV News logo would look better in white as well.

Your idea doesn't fit with the current titles, are you planning how the rest of the titles will look?

What I really like about the current ITV News titles/animations is where the graphics change in time with the music. If you could animate yours in time with the music then this would look a lot better. Also, a single colour ITV News logo with no boxes in the background would look better in this scenario as others have said.

I've tweaked some colours and added perspective to the clock face.

I wanted the logo to be boxey to move away from the current theme and be more like Sky News (for better or worse). I appreciate it's not to everyone's tastes. With regard to timing to the music, I feel that's really distinctive to the current brand and wanted to try something different (like with the logo). One thing I do think though is that the clock face animation deserves more prominence so I was wondering how I could do that.

What do people think about the clock face animation happening in the centre then sweeping aside to the left for the logo formation?

Difficult rebranding ITV News as the current brand is so strong.

I'm still learning animation so I'm just happy I've managed to animate anything at all. I'm not expecting to be able to work wonders immediately. Indeed I know what I've done is nowhere near finished or TV-ready, but I like it when this forum is a constructive community encouraging people to develop ideas over time.

Want to work on the way 'News at Ten' forms and still not sure if the clock face inner should be visible (like in 1st go) or less visible (as in 2nd go).

Sorry, I don't like the way the 'New at Ten' animates.

Neither do I. I want to work on that later.

You have been so negative about this mock. You are doing it again, where you continuously post updates where you have tweaked one minor bit! You need to go away and rethink this and make it to a standard that you like where the 'colours DO work' and where 'you CAN see the clock face'.
