I thought it would be interesting to rebrand ITV (again I know) with a different approach, using a warm serif rather than a strict commercial looking Sans. I know the last logo was a handwritten style, but for some reason I've never been a fan of it, or the previous 2006 logo. This is my interpretation of how the channels could be rebranded, with no 'channel colour' meaning programmes advertised would use their own 'programme colour'.
For the actual logo, I was deciding between going with ITV which hasn't been used in their logo uppercase in a long time, or go with itv. I tried both in the font I decided on, and I just thought that itv looked friendlier and I really like how the 'tv' part are connected. For other channels, the words of the numbers are used rather than a numeral. These are in uppercase, and can go below the logo or next to it, for example, in EPGs it would be probably best suited to go next to it. Here's the channel logos, colour schemes and typefaces used.
I wanted to keep all programme promos very simplistic and avoid gradients and images that would make it way less clear. In the end, I used the show's main colour with a cream bar and the channel logo at the bottom. Instead of just a blank colour with the bar, I thought I could add something so I added some abstract rectangles/shapes and dots - these could be representative of the dot in the itv and the shapes of the logo itself. Another big change is the change to Avenir rather than Reem. Again, I've never liked the font and I think a full rebrand should also introduce a new font. I also think the font is much friendlier and less commercial looking.
ECPS are a similar story, going with the same design and fonts.
I thought News would be essential to re look at, especially if Reem's going. So here's what I came up with, obviously it's not much, just an idea of the colours and logo.
In a rebrand mock an interruption slide is definitely a requirement
As for the ITV Hub, it's got a new logo/colours to fit the new styles and I thought it would be a great feature if they introduced Profiles like Netflix has.
Last of all, here's a summary slide that could be shown on ITV's website or on screen in the first week or two of the rebrand.
I'm not a writer so don't judge the wording of that, it's just a rough idea.
I know this mock might not be to some people's taste, obviously it would be a risky thing to do but I think it looks friendly and helps give a stronger message to viewers. Hope you like the mock and let me know what you think.
