ITV Nightscreen redesign graphics mock

I know the Nightscreen only appears in the early hours of the morning (3/4 o'clockish), but thats no excuse for it to look as outdated as it currently does. For example, the current Nighscreen that is used is not branded using the ITV logo, it simply says ITV Nightscreen in text form which looks bad in my opinion. Anyway, here is my mock in a still image form and a video form. It took me a week to make.

Sorry about the clock not changing from 04:30 to 4:31, the clock is just to show you where things would be, it doesn't particularly have to work on a mock.

Also, the ticker would be continuous if this was used on TV. It would contain many more than 2 stories.

This is decent enough, except the clock. The design of it doesn't look right.

I rather like this, it's nice and simple. The only thing I can really comment on is the logo, which I think looks nicer in strip format:

That format looks better, however I'm trying to keep this 4:3 safe

Nightscreen in its current form isn't 4:3 safe, use up that space. To me at the moment it feels too GMB/ITV News. Use a bit of ITV's package a bit.

That gives me a lot more space to play with! I'll try changing the colours to build Nightscreen's identity around the ITV colours. Thanks for your feedback!

I can see the logic in it, but something doesn't seem right about it having a clock and a ticker like Good Morning Britain on a service like Nightscreen.

Nightscreen should have a clock and ticker so it can do more things at once. Its a screen that displays when ITV have nothing else to show so it would be handy if they showed a ticker and a clock, just to give it more purpose.

It's a good idea! I like this quite a lot.

There's a reason ITV Nightscreen doesn't look anything like the Good Morning News/rolling news service-style mock you've produced. It's a cheap filler designed to plug a gap in the overnight schedule. It's not meant to look fancy or professional because nobody sane actually watches it. It would probably be more cost effective to scrap the whole service and replace it with Teleshopping than splash the cash on an overhaul of graphics simply because it "looks outdated".

Sorry, but I just don't get it.

If nobody watched it then it wouldn't be there in the first place. The graphics won't cost much to change, since the equipment they use will be capable of running these graphics. All they need is a graphics designer and it would only take a couple days to redesign. It took me a week because I spread the work over 7 days rather than rushing it.

A good few years ago (pre 2013 rebrand), ITV turned down a pitch to revamp the nightscreen service and bring it more into the brand.
