Just thought I'd share a thought for an ITV show similar to Sunday Morning Live to be aired on weekday evenings discussing relevant topics of discussion.

I wanted the logo and graphics to reflect the title, and after having gone down the 3D approach, I opted for a bright, vibrant 90s style look (this will not be to a lot of peoples' taste).

Here's the logo and lower thirds graphics so far:

I like it. I think it would appeal to the target audience of shows like this.

Nice to see a new mock from you, Owen.

I know it's the style you've gone for so perhaps this isn't a fair criticism but it just seems a bit all over the place to me. No two boxes are the same in terms of text size/formatting/colours... it looks to me like every element has been made independently of everything around it and it's all just been pieced together at the end. I feel like a This Morning style simple strap would be much better at telling viewers what the talking point is, and would be much less obstructive on screen, though I understand that lessens the character of the creation hugely.

Unfortunately, personally, I find it far too garish and distracting but maybe I'm just not the hip, cool, colour-loving, young go-getter that this show would be aimed at...

In any case, nice to see your work as ever, and interesting to see a mock for a completely new show, rather than seeing a refreshed version of pre-existing programmes' graphics.

Looks very similar to UKTV Spark's design: https://twitter.com/sparkyofficials/status/1341487397763227648?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1341487397763227648%7Ctwgr%5Eshare_1%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Ftvforum.uk%2Fthegallery%2Fitv-rebrand-2021-46473

Having been critical of Owen A's work on this Hot Topic idea, I feel I must now defend him.

If the inference is that Owen A has ripped off UKTV Spark's work without crediting him, then I'd advise you have a close look at the dates on which both of the users' work was first posted.

The tweet in question was posted six hours after (8:54pm) Owen A posted his work in The Gallery (2:35pm).

If anyone has ripped off anyone , it's quite the reverse of what you're suggesting.

Think you'll find it's the other way around by about 7 hours.

I agree a lot with David, that it's all a bit disjointed, a common theme with your original ideas is building a specific space for a coming up graphic when it should be something which fits into the design when it isn't on screen.
For example, GMB's use of the right hand side of the strap, or This Morning's which, while it isn't used in the same way (as a promo during an item), occupies the same space as the name strap, without taking up any extra space.

I feel that Owen A has done an exeptional job at his work. I don't feel the reason to criticise his work.

I've tweaked the graphics so they're much simpler now - the topic in question is really the only thing that needs to be on screen at all time (and arguably the programme name)

I do want to animate these at some point but just wanted to get some feedback on the stills atm.
