Well, another Daybreak mock is upon you, but I have changed a few things!
I was never a fan of the real Daybreak logo, I thought it was vile, so I addressed that first. I looked at the typography and thought it suggested dumbed down content, I wanted a humanist replacement and I found it. I recently downloaded the Ubuntu family of fonts and thought it suited the logo and on screen graphics to a tee, so I designed some early tests around that.
Next I looked at the Daybreak on screen graphics, I don't like Neo Sans when used for bodies of text, fine in logos, but Daybreak use it a lot and sometimes can be hard to read in a hurry. I looked again at Ubuntu and saw it was aesthetically pleasing and easy to read. I then looked at shapes, I found Daybreak's OSG to be bland, uninspired and looking like a Powerpoint autoshape, so I looked at shapes and had a look at some existing title sequences and found the diagonals used in the BBC London titles of 2005 to be most pleasing with the new logo I had designed.
I hand drew some early concepts out (no images, unless you want to see them) and looked for efficient shapes that looked nice and managed maximum information output, I integrated these into my on screen clock and aston designs, I also used them in the headline transition.
Having worked with the shapes above I then started playing around with some square objects in 3D space, adding a light and working with transition effects. I made the square objects into purple glass objects and choreographed a camera sequence about them, there was some VT amongst the forest of glass panels but this caused issues near rendering. I did have a rough title sequence but that is not ready yet, I have however, completed my title endboard and intro sequence which will be after this long winded text post.

Sorry about the wait and the long winded post!
