Just to further exercise my After Effects skills, I again decided to create another BBC Breakfiller. Yes, this isn't the first, and this one I believe is a bit better. If anyone has listened to the BBC World Service Breakdown music, some of you may consider it calming. I took that feeling and applied it to this filler.
This is how the Breakfiller plays out:
I need to add country maps to each city, and I need to fix the Finance information.
Overall, fantastic -- however I have one or two niggles:
Not too sure about the grey bars on the weather, why not have it transparent with a thin white line instead? -- also all you've listed is the temperatures sans degree symbol or scale indicator -- why not put a little symbol or a one-word summary?
The grey bars just about work on the Finance section, perhaps they could be black and have a bit more padding around the text, but I think you should have a country identifier flag next to each market (UK for FTSE etc). Also include symbols for currencies.
The NEWS text in [B][B][C] NEWS should be the same x-height as the letters in the boxes, rather than the boxes themselves
Also, if you're going to be consistent, Weather should be in all-caps. May also be worth deciding if you're going to use the BBC box logo or not (you use it for news, leave it out for sport, then bring it back for Weather.
Apart from those, just check your spelling (Hue Edwards?) and it'd be perfect!
I love it, bar the BBC logo comments that have been main, and the only thing I would add is the "we'll be back soon" line makes it sound like a technical breakdown, rather than planned break filler... But lovely stuff, good use of AE and keep at it!
Top props for not animating the BBC logo onscreen as three separate cubes (A pet hate of mine!).
Brilliant work. At this point in the thread I can only really echo the comments about the BBC News logo - I think maybe you should drop the BBC News logo and just use 'News' or 'Headlines' (I know this wouldn't fit with the beat).
The BBC Weather logo is actually correct. Although on-screen it has sometimes been in all caps, this has been without the BBC logo, and as 'BBC Weather' is not a TV or radio service, as part of the 1997 guidelines it should be in mixed case anyway. But again it might make sense to drop the 'BBC' logo since its also at the bottom of the screen throughout as well.
I'm in the process if fixing these issues. It took 7 hours to render, so the background is now separated from the main comp (i.e. Proxy)
This BBC Logo is proving an issue. I had just lined up all of the letters so it fits the size. I'll have to think about the next course of action.
The Weather and Finance modulus is also proving a challenge as that it needs the icons, and a bit more colour. I know of a solution, it just going to take me some time.
Thanks for the support. By the way, have you had a guess at which headlines were created by me?
