BBC NEWS HD (2009)

havent had any chances over the last few months to alter the graphics, but have had some time recently, and took another stab.

few things first
1 | since most european broadcasters (France 2, NRK, SVT) have ditched 14:9 safe areas, (apart from moving the graphics in a bit) i don't see why this is not possible now
2 | i understood the criticism about the light red background, but decided to darken the tone, so to keep red as the prominent colour
3 | the text has now been right-aligned, but to fill in the gaps, the globe is now put in place in a box to fill the gap (2007 style) (this will become more apparent when i start work on the regions to give the look some consistency)
4 | the reflections are gone, but the colours of the straps are the same, to make it as clear as possible
5 | i havent had time to finish off the breakfiller, so that's still work in progress

I love the mock but I don't like it how the website domain stays at the bottom of the screen constantly. Apart from that a well designed mock.

Really love them, great job!!! I don't like the website address constantly on screen. Keep them to the idents.

the reason why the website address is present is for two reasons
1 | if you remember, the 1999 look also had the website address on the screen
2 | the website is so heavily advertised on bbc world news, so itd make sense to place it on screen

i havent got any time at the moment, there are a few more changes i want to make, so itll be a while before i have another chance.

Very nice work. It all looks very professional and attractive. I particularly like the countdown with the numbers in the red box mirroring the BBC World News logo. Much better than what we have at the moment.

My only criticism is that with the graphic block above the BBC World News DOG, the space for text on the Astons is too limited which would cause problems.

Other than that, I like it a lot.

i did check if there was enough space when designing the graphics by seeing if text that could fit on the 2007 and 2008 graphics could fit on mine
and found that because the text is more 'squashed' compared to both graphics designs, it compensates for the reduction in space on the straps, so its alright

If nothing else I approve of Karin Giannone in HD

I don't like them I'm afraid. I like the astons etc. in the BBC World News mocks, but I don't see how these titles for the nations and national news are an improvement on the current, in fact, they're rather poor.

I hope the animation will not be like DW-TV... the lower-thirds are too similar.

Agreed, I don't really see a huge improvement in these mocks, just seems to have cheapened the current package.
