ITN Weekend News Theme 1982-88

Does anyone know the title of the ITN News theme heard at the start of this video? I assume it’s library.

Alas It's not library and the composer has died.

From memory it was introduced on 19th June 1982 - anyone know when it was last used?

I think it was used until some time during late November or early December 1987.

Unless it was the 30th Nov? it most likely sometime in December.

Thanks - hadn’t realised it was before Christmas 87. The new theme and look likely debuted on a Saturday towards the beginning of December, I would guess.

Did it coincide with a wider ITN rebrand? News at 5.45 was rebranded and changed it’s theme towards the end of the 80s - but News at 12.30 replaced News at One in August 87, so not at the same time as the weekend bulletins changed.

No, the various programmes were re-branded in phases.

The first was Channel 4 News in 1986, then News at 12.30 in July 1987, then Weekend News in December 1987, then News at 5.45 in April 1988 and finally News at Ten in May 1988. Of course, in the middle of all this, ITN Super Channel News launched with the computerised graphics in early (January?) 1987.

If the 1987 ITN Weekend News isn't library, does anyone have a clean copy please?
