This YouTube upload of the 9th December 1993 edition is the best quality of the jazzy theme I've seen without a watermark, it's slightly muffled but it's in stereo unlike most other uploads.

The second part of the upload also contains the full end credits (again in stereo) without any voiceover. You also get to hear the funky "duff duffs"

BBC Worldwide uploaded the first 68 episodes to YouTube some time ago, which all feature the credits without any voiceover (although unfortunately a lot of them have been re-edited with shorter, scrolling credits based on the 1993-1999 map).

I wonder why? Were the original credits worn out or were they just re-edited for the 90s daytime repeats? Also why don't BBC WW have the original shows complete with slow credits?

I don't know why they have a mix of episodes with the original credits and re-edited credits, but I'm guessing they were re-edited for the UK Gold repeats in the mid 90s, when they started from the beginning again because they'd caught up to the present day.

My first thought was that they were the credits from the 'early days' repeats (as they were branded, perhaps that's the reason?). It's strange because I thought they were shown in the evenings. (Genome) Seem to remember watching them on our portable kitchen TV at the time!

They were shown in the evening as "The Unforgettable Eastenders" Smile
