I remember that the BBC used its final version of Rick Wakeman's "Arthur" for the General Election coverage in 2005. Does anyone happen to have this collection of music, by any chance?

Would be very interested to hear from you if you do - always happy to arrange a trade of some sort.

Best wishes

Rob

Thanks, I have that CD I think. That contains the version that was used for Election 92 iirc. The 2005 election had a different version - that's the one I'm after.

"Arthur", the first track from the aforementioned Myths & Legends album, in various hacked, bowdlerised and truncated forms served as the Election Theme in 1979, 1983, 1987 and 1992. You can search for these at your leisure on YouTube if you wish to see, or rather hear, what BBC sound engineers did with their rusty razors.

For Election 1997, the BBC commissioned a new version of the theme, called Election 97 (Arthur), which RIck stuck on the end of the Fields Of Green 97 album and is available here :

Arthur wasn't used in 2001 because the BBC wanted to charge him for the "privilege" of it being used. Then somehow it came back for one final outing in 2005 before disappearing off into the Tintagel mist.
