Having done a bit of Googling I didn't realise how many forum software solutions there are available these days. And the prices of some Shocked

RIP Ikonboard tho. Their wikipedia entry makes sad reading for the messy end to that bit of software.

Much as I like phpBB for over the road I still find it annoying they don't support SEO friendly URLs out of the box and honestly the amount of spam accounts I have to clean out every week,

Never mind, it’s in the FAQ. I must say well done to Asa for building (if not all of) the majority of the site’s software.

Sorry for this morning's downtime. The hosting company have been having some connectivity problems with the SSL provider I use. They've given me a workaround whilst they sort out a permanent solution.

Love the icon change for "Eurovision" this year... even if it isn't going ahead and the icon has been changed every year!

If the Netherlands gets to host next year, maybe we'll see that Dutch heart flag back again Wink

Throwing this out there - when should the "founding member" cutoff be? A few months or the whole of 2001?

I don't think anyone would begrudge the whole of 2001, would they? It's longer ago than some users have been alive!

When did I join, out of interest? I definitely remember browsing in 2001, but I'm not sure if it's was as a lurker.

Not sure if I’d count as while I joined in May 2001 (under the name ‘Billy Hicks88’ I think), I had to re-register after the forum returned from some downtime at the start of 2003, and shortened my username in the process. I think that’s when I added the ‘Member since’ line in my signature to give the teenage me a little more feeling of authority :p

Actually, I was born, on this day, a year before TV Forum in 2000 Laughing

If you hover over your username it says 1st Jan 2002......how unlucky!! Laughing

There's no question about it Billy, you should definitely be in the 2001 club. I definitely remember you around these parts from the very early days.

Wow...now feeling like a fossil. So you were still in nappies when we made our first posts on TV Forum. Crikey where have the years gone?!

Seriously, though, if this idea is a goer - how about the cut-off being a calendar year after launch, so from 22nd March 2001 until 21 March 2002? And call it the Founders Club? I think if you were here for the first birthday of TVF then that's a fair milestone. Anyway, we can't have thegeek left out!

1st Jan? Sorry, you missed the cutoff Very Happy

I like your suggestion Rob, the first year of the site feels quite fitting. Presumably a number of those who registered in Jan 2003 were original members too, feel free to let me know if you're one of them and I'll dig out the registration date if I can.

And Billy, I’ve updated your date!

Is there a 'shot yourself in the foot' emoji? Smile
I'm pretty certain I spent some of the evening of 9/11 browsing the forum (slightly tipsily, while staying at my cousin's flat) - I wonder why I took so long to get around to joining?

I joined in on the 20th September 2003, underneath a typical screen name a 17 year would choose at the time (FriendsFanatic I was originally called) I smartened up and changed it to what I am now. TV Forum was always opened in a tab during my work experience placement then which I would flick back and forth to during quiet periods.
