Interesting that Sky have renewed their reduced rates for the Sports passes of £6.99/day and £10.99/week until at least early March 2015. Originally these were due to increase at the end of this month (Nov 2014).
I know it's £3 difference but I'd rather much pay £6.99 here or there than pay the £9.99, if you pick your days well (either big games or multiple games) then £6.99 is a bargain, cheaper than going down the pub to watch it. Last time I used it aswell the picture quality was far more stable than previous occasions and it only buffered once, so it's getting better.
The Chromecast has arrived. As suspected, awful with BBC iPlayer, but nowhere as bad as the NOW TV box. I'm able to stream the France Télévisions channels (France 2, 3, 5 etc) direct from the Francetv Pluzz site casting from Chrome on the PC which was my main objective with slight motion judder.
I haven't tried NOW TV yet.

Tested NOW TV with the Chromecast. As good as it gets using a streaming device at 60hz. Motion judder is barely noticeable, however watching The Harry Hill Movie, the picture does seem 'washed out' in comparison to the LG app. GOLD, which performed poorly with poor picture and audio sync on the NOW TV box had none of these issues.
The Chromecast may not be as consumer friendy as the NOW TV box, but for a second room streaming device for NOW TV or for streaming YouTube, it can't be beaten.
The three month entertainment pass works out only 1p more than it was before October. I have a Chromecast pass to add which will take me to the end of May 2015, but I may buy one of these passes for the films if NOW TV don't offer me a retention deal when I cancel it in January when my three month pass runs out.
I think NOW TV have cottoned on to people selling passes through eBay from the NOW TV Box pass packs and have sensibly decided to sell them on the high street separately.
You're really holding out for the impossible on a no contract system. Retention deals, at the rates NOW TV are offering really aren't on, or desirable. It's a take it or leave it basis.
I believe they do sometimes offer a small discount for say 3 months, or 6 months. Back when they launched I was offered a gift voucher if I continued my subscription for another month (in addition to the one I received for subscribing).
EDIT: This just reminded me to cancel my 90 days free entertainment I received with my Chromecast. Got the following offers:
